Man charged and four other suspects arrested in stabbing of 15-year-old boy

Kevin Alvarez, one of five people arrested, has been hit with many charges in the inhumane killing of 15-year-old Lesandro "Junior" Guzman-Feliz.

As reported by Gothamist, the suspects were quickly hunted down by police. According to the NYPD statement regarding the case, "The NYPD continues to vigorously investigate last week’s homicide in the 48 pct."

The statement added: "The Department has identified multiple suspects and is in the process of interviewing some of them at this time. Initial arrests have been made, and more are anticipated."

"The NYPD thanks the public for the outpouring of tips in this case, and encourages people to continue to come forward if they have information to share. Additional information will be released as it becomes available and confirmed."

Alvarez, 19, of the Bronx, was officially named as one of the suspects. According to police, he was charged with second-degree murder, manslaughter, gang assault, and assault.

When he was being escorted from the 48th Precinct, amid jeers from Guzman-Feliz's friends and family, one person screamed: "That was a baby. I hope you rot in jail, [expletive]! I hate you! I hope you die, [expletive]!"

Four other suspects were also arrested. According to New York Post, three of them "were arrested Sunday [in] Paterson, NJ, during a raid... Another man was said to have walked into the 48th Precinct and turned himself in."

Dermot Shea, the NYPD Chief of Detectives, tweeted: "We have made arrests regarding the murder of 15-yr-old Lesandro “Junior” Guzman-Feliz. Confirmed details to follow. This is still an active investigation. Your tips have been invaluable! Please keep them coming. 800-577-TIPS."

The murder of Guzman-Feliz was caught on surveillance cameras. The horrifying footage shows the teen being grabbed and pulled out of Cruz and Chiky Grocery on East 183rd Street and Bathgate Avenue.

He was then shown being attacked by a group of men. Using knives and machetes, they repeatedly stabbed and slashed at him.

In another video, the 15-year-old was seen running towards nearby St. Barnabas Hospital. He was bleeding from the neck and slowly dying on the sidewalk while people just watched.

The gruesome murder turned out to be a case of mistaken identity, New York Post reported.
