Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have announced they’re expecting their first child

In the midst of Princess Eugenie’s fairytale wedding this weekend and speculations surrounding Meghan Markle's pregnancy that came after, Kensington Palace has confirmed that the Duchess of Sussex is indeed expecting a child.

As guests arrived at the Windsor Castle to witness the wedding of Princess Eugenie, daughter of Prince Charles' younger brother Prince Andrew and his ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson, the arrival of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle drew a lot of attention for one particular reason – the duchess’ clothing choice. Many believed her dress was an effort to conceal her pregnancy which has now been confirmed.

Meghan wore a navy blue Givenchy dress by Claire Wright Keller, the same designer who created her iconic wedding gown. However, no one got to see the dress because Meghan opted to cover up with a matching coat and decided to keep it on the whole time.

The coat was loose and perfect in concealing a pregnancy. Fans were quick to speculate as the coat was unbuttoned from the chest down providing an illusion of a tiny bump. Here’s what some of them had to say on Twitter.

This isn’t the first time Meghan has been speculated to be pregnant. In fact, she’s had several outfit choices in the past that sparked rumors of a baby in the oven. In recent months, she’s been observed to wear a lot of dark tones – forest green, black, navy – shades that could easily camouflage a bump. She’s also been particularly fond of wearing outfits that are less figure-hugging, like the custom-made Jason Wu dress she wore to a gala event at Central Hall Westminster in September.

But now fans must be saying "i told you so" as it has been confirmed that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are about to welcome a child in the spring of 2019. Kensington Palace released a statement today announcing the good news.

"Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are very pleased to announce that The Duchess of Sussex is expecting a baby in the Spring of 2019.

"Their Royal Highnesses have appreciated all of the support they have received from people around the world since their wedding in May and are delighted to be able to share this happy news with the public."

Meghan's pregnancy would seem like an inopportune time considering she just touched down in Sydney for a 16-day tour to Australia, New Zealand, Fiji and the Kingdom of Tonga with her husband. The couple is expected to attend 76 engagements there.

However, there’s was also the previous talk that the Duchess will be skipping the Fiji leg of the tour fueling further suspicion at the time that she’s expecting. According to Australian magazine New Idea, Meghan has pulled out from Fiji due to the threat of the Zika virus which is known to be dangerous for pregnant women. A local tour guide seemed to have confirmed this when she stressed that only Harry will be coming to Fiji.

Meghan and her husband must be ecstatic with the news along with the rest of the royal family who are said to be delighted. The baby will be seventh-in-line to the British throne as well as the Queen's eighth grandchild. Meghan's mother, Doria Ragland is also reportedly "very happy about this lovely news" and "looks forward to welcoming her first grandchild."

With Meghan on her way to motherhood, this is no time for her to attend to other matters stirred by her family lately. Her half-sister Samantha Markle who was in London last week has made several efforts to reach out to the Duchess to no avail. She says she wants to make amends with Meghan and put their hurtful past behind. She appeared on television to apologize to her half-sister and even dropped by Kensington Palace to deliver a letter to Meghan who has not said a single word regarding her sister’s presence in the United Kingdom. It's likely Meghan is trying to stay away from any more controversy seeing she's now in a more delicate condition and wouldn't want any stress in her life.
