Simmons took to Instagram on October 18 to share a photo of herself holding a “Shake It Baby” packet. She wrote in the caption:

“Few days down on this round of @flattummyco shakes and I’m definitely seeing the progress . They taste good , super quick to make, and get me the results I’m looking for . Definitely happy with my post-summer tummy redemption. Check them out while this sale’s still on! #ad”

Fans immediately went off on her in the comments section, accusing her of lying about how she stays trim and fit. Even though the 31-year-old indicated that her post is a paid partnership, that didn’t stop folks from leaving negative remarks.

“I'm just gonna add you to the list of other fake celebs that promote wack products.”- @arbitron909

“She needs to stop lying bout this tea cuz she don’t even drink it. All the celebs are lying when they promote this bs”- @lovie1736

“[Expletive] You are fit because you work out like a professional athlete, not because of some tea. Please stop spreading BS products.”- @deadlydil

“How can you post built not brought then advertise stuff like this - dont see how thats not contradicting!?!”- @clairecozens1905

The harsh reaction towards Simmons’ post is likely because she’s built a reputation as a fitness enthusiast. Only some days earlier, Simmons shared an Instagram video where she was working out with her trainer and added the hashtag #builtnotbought.

Her workout routine, extensively documented on Instagram, is said to involve strength training, circuit and interval training, cardio, and squats. She also reportedly lifts heavy 30-pound weights, and even on rest days, Simmons enjoys dance, yoga, stair climbing, and spinning.

While expecting her first child, Simmons never stopped exercising and used the experience to enlighten other moms-to-be on staying fit while pregnant. The daughter of RUN D.M.C.’s Rev. Run welcomed her son, Sutton Joseph, on September 22, 2016, and 13 days later, was back in the Gym.

Simmons has not responded to any of the comments targeted at her.
