The owners of this partially-paralyzed cat made sure that their beloved pet could experience the world as it once knew it by creating a special wheelchair for him to be able to move around.

Rocky is a partially-paralyzed cat living in New Jersey, who wears a wheelchair to move around to support his two paralyzed hind legs. Speaking to Inside Edition, his owner, Dawn Firestone, shared how people often express their gratitude for them giving the poor kitten a second chance at life.

“People [say] he’s so lucky you’re the one that found him because anyone else would have put him to sleep. It’s all handling and love, and the love I get back is beyond ridiculous.”

Dawn shares that the kitten was found in the place where her husband works. She explains how the kitten's mom tragically carried him to the top of a machine and dropped him. This caused him to fall 15 feet to the ground.

“He was full of grease, barely gasping for air every five seconds or so. My husband’s like, ‘You’re a very emotional person. If I bring him home and he passes away, you’ll be in bed for a week.’”

However, she was persistent and told her husband to take the kitten home so that they could take care of it. It turns out the little kitten suffered a spinal injury from the fall, which damaged his nerves and left his back legs paralyzed.

Firestone put all her effort into finding a way for Rocky to live, feeding him by bottle, and even creating the special wheelchair for him. In return, she says that Rocky has done nothing but want to cuddle her, returning the love she's been giving him.

While this has all been heartwarming for Dawn, she believes that her saving Rocky has a bigger purpose, and that is to inspire other pet lovers to adopt special needs animals regardless of how difficult this might sound.

“As amazing as he is, cats like that would be euthanized and killed for no reason. I’m waiting for the day somebody messages me and says, ‘I would have never adopted a special needs cat. Because of Rocky, I did.'"
