Melania Trump gets slammed for wearing 'hideous' $9,000 Dior coat to celebrate Thanksgiving

It’s Thanksgiving again, but Americans are anything but thankful for their First Lady’s $9,000 Dior coat, and they’re not afraid to share their thoughts on social media.

Since moving into the White House, Melania Trump has managed to stir up controversy with her choice of clothing several times. Now, folks are calling her out and making fun of the Dior coat she donned on Tuesday.

While participating in the traditional National Thanksgiving Turkey Presentation at the White House, Melania appeared alongside her husband, President Donald Trump, in an attention-grabbing coat.

The mostly-beige coat was designed by Dior and features large geometric patterns in red, black, and white colors.

According to Evening Standard, the statement coat is from the pre-fall 2018 collection designed by Maria Grazia Chiuri. It also reportedly retails for around $9,000.

Melania paired the outfit with a black top, matching pants, and knee-high stiletto boots by Christian Louboutin. She also wore her hair in its signature style—parted in the middle.

The First Lady shared two photos of herself in the luxury ensemble and wrote: “We started the holiday season with the turkey pardon at @whitehouse yesterday. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!”

But many folks were not feeling the outfit, and they made their feelings known. One Twitter user held nothing back, declaring:

“That has got to be one of the most ridiculous coats I have ever seen.”

Several people found the coat’s pattern to look much like a turkey.

“How nice of Melania to dress up like the guest of honor,” read one tweet while another said, "Someone needs to pardon Melania's coat."

Some Melania Trump fashion fan accounts, however, found her costume "amazing."

Only last month, the First Lady came under fire after she wore a hat similar to the ones used by British colonialists. Melania was on her first solo tour of Africa at the time, and people felt her choice of outfit was insensitive and inappropriate.

In September, Melania was dragged for wearing a $4,000 Gucci coat to meet the Polish president. Social media users bashed her for wearing a wool coat indoors and mocked her seeming fashion faux pas.

There was also the infamous “I Really Don’t Care. Do U?” jacket she wore in June while visiting immigrant children who were separated from their parents at the U.S.-Mexico border.

Melania has not responded to the latest controversy over her outfit, but the First Lady is currently enjoying the holidays with her family at their Mar-a-Lago estate in Palm Beach, Florida.
