Mel B shares picture of her arm in purple sling after 3-hour surgery to save her hand

Mel B shocked fans by revealing that she was hospitalized with two broken ribs and a severed right arm in an Instagram post, shown below.

The 43-year-old Spice Girls singer shared a post to her Instagram on Monday. In the pic, she showed herself with a purple sling on her right arm.

She wore a blue hoodie with the word “Love,” across it. Mel stared blankly at the camera and showed her right hand to the camera.

The purple foam sling held her arm up and covered the heavily bandaged limb. Mel went on to reveal the extent of her injuries.

She apparently suffered two broken ribs and a severed right hand. However, Scary Spice didn’t reveal how she sustained such dangerous injuries.

She went on to thank the hospital staff and her fans for their support during this tough time. She also thanked the doctors for giving her the best possible chance to recover.

“Thank you to all the wonderful nurses [doctors] and my amazing surgeon for the care and expertise given to me here at the hospital I’ve been staying at, suffering 2 broken ribs a severed right hand. [From] needing [emergency] care, to having had to have over a 3 [hour] surgery to repair the damage hence the purple sling.” wrote Mel

Mel was currently on a book tour and had a book signing in New York lined up. However, due to her injuries, she was forced to cancel the event.

According to her post, she is "gutted" about canceling the signing. She went on to apologize to everyone who had bought tickets and promised to make it up to them.

“I’ve had to, unfortunately, cancel my book signing today in NY. I [apologize] to each and everyone one of you who bought [their] tickets to meet me today. I’m absolutely gutted but I can assure you it WILL happen at a later date, I promise.” wrote Mel.

After undergoing the surgery Mel needs to rest and heal. She needs to remain relaxed and is, therefore, taking a break from her busy schedule.

In a second post on Monday, Mel shared a gif of her visitors while still in the hospital. In the post, Mel is lying in the hospital bed, while Melanie C, Geri Halliwell, and Emma Bunton surrounding her.

"When your besties show up to the hospital with hugs and laughter and A LOT of love, ahhhh I love my spice girls yipppeee #friendship #family #spicegirls," read the caption.

The singer recently released her memoir, Brutally Honest. She is also set to tour with the Spice Girls next year.
