Jon Gosselin opens up about his ex-wife Kate amid custody battle for son Collin
In 2009, “Jon & Kate Plus 8” stars Jon and Kate Gosselin divorced after 10 years of marriage. Kate was granted full legal custody of their 8 children but the pair shared physical custody.
On December 4, the former couple was due in court for a custody battle of their son Collin. However, Kate never arrived for the hearing.
Since neither Kate Gosselin, 43, nor her lawyer was present for the proceedings last Tuesday, the judge awarded Jon Gosselin, 41, temporary sole physical and legal custody of their son Collin, 14. The court appearance was held in Pennsylvania.
Opening up about the ordeal this Tuesday, Jon revealed that he wasn’t surprised that his ex-wife didn’t show up for the hearing. He simply stated to Us Weekly: “That’s her.”

The two exes are parents to sextuplets Collin, Hannah, Leah, Alexis, Joel, and Aaden. They also share twins Cara and Mady, 18.
Since February, Hannah has been living with Jon while the other children stayed with their mother. Collin was staying at a facility for children with special needs.
In August 2016, Kate opened up about Collin saying:
“Collin has special needs. [There’s] a fairly fluid diagnosis of what those needs are, but he needs to learn certain strategies to help him deal with things. This has been a struggle we’ve had for a very long time, and it’s one I’ve dealt with on my own. I am confident he is in the best hands and receiving the best of what’s being offered for his situation."
Jon can’t wait to bring his son home and he said: “I’m excited to have a male around.” The father of 8 needs some male bonding since Hannah’s eighth-grade friends are a fixture in his living room.
He joked, “I’m constantly surrounded by 14-year-old girls!” The reality star also shared that his son wanted to come to live with him and Hannah wants her brother home.
Collin has been living away from his family for over two years according to reports. Kate previously revealed that she had made the difficult decision to enroll her son in the program in order to help him reach his full potential.
