In this 2013 clip from "Oprah's Master Class," Stevie, who is best known for her work as a songwriter and vocalist with Fleetwood Mac, called her choice "beyond insane."

"Even… sitting here right now, [I'm wondering], 'What were you thinking?'" she said. "I wasn't thinking. And that's the story of my marriage."

The 70-year-old musician settled on a decision to never be married and never have children many years ago. According to her, doing so would hinder her real calling.

However, she did get married to her best friend's husband for three months

The story about Stevie's marriage starts when her best friend, Robin Anderson, was diagnosed with leukemia in 1981.

While Robin was in remission, she and her husband, Kim Anderson, found out they were expecting a child.

But Robin's cancer returned. She later chose to stop her treatment.

"She knew that she was going to die," Stevie said, "and she wanted to leave that baby behind. She wanted something to be left from her."

Robin passed away not long after her child, Matthew, was born. Stevie was crushed by her demise, and the misery sent the legendary singer on a mission.

"I wanted that baby," she said. "I convinced Kim, and three months after Robin died, we got married."

Stevie thought it was what Robin would have wanted. But it soon turned out to be evident to her that not everybody agreed with the choice.

"It just blew up in our faces," she said. "It was so the wrong thing. To take Matthew and [Robin’s] husband was so beyond insane."

Stevie remembered feeling her best friend's presence in Matthew's nursery and revealed how she told Kim that she needed a divorce.

"Even… sitting here right now, [I'm wondering], 'What were you thinking?'" she said. "I wasn't thinking. And that's the story of my marriage."

Stevie, who was caught off guard when Kid Rock gave her an unexpected visit on the stage in 2014, reconnected with Matthew eight years after her odd marriage and divorce from Kim. The vocalist put her stepson through college, as reported by Fabiosa.
