"NCIS" fans had to bid farewell to some of their favorite characters these last few years. Now, rumors are swirling that one more beloved character is soon to depart the hit show.

In season 11, Cote de Pablo, aka Ziva David, exited the show. Then Michael Weatherly, aka Agent DiNozzo, said goodbye in season 13, and after 15 seasons, Pauley Perrette, aka Abby Sciuto, left the show.

Although there has been little to suggest that Murray will indeed leave the action police procedural television series, that doesn’t mean as much as it used to.

Now, according to rumors, Timothy McGee, played by Sean Murray, will soon leave the television series.

In April 2018, "NCIS" was renewed for a 16th season, which premiered in September 2018. At the beginning of the season, fans were already convinced that another character would leave.

The most recent episode revealed McGee is being head-hunted by a tech company for a "multi-million dollar job," which only made the fans more worried that Murray could be getting ready to leave.

After the episode, many fans took to Twitter asking to hear that Sean Murray was staying put on the show for now.

One user wrote: "Oh no! McGee is NOT leaving NCIS! Please say it ain’t so."

"PLEASE don’t let McGee go!" added another.

It feels like nobody is safe anymore after numerous characters left the show or were murdered in recent years.

Meanwhile, "NCIS," which was initially referred to as "Navy NCIS" during season one, is still one of TV’s most-watched shows after 16 years on the air.

Diona Reasonover joined the main cast in Season 16, following the departures of Duane Henry and Perrette.

In May 2018, Perrette revealed how she had been abused while working on "NCIS," which is probably the reason why she left the hit show.
