Swizz Beatz shares moving tribute to the 'most amazing soul on earth' wife Alicia Keys on her b-day
Alicia Keys turned a year older recently and her music producer husband, Swizz Beatz had glowing words for the woman who was once described as a “homewrecker.”
January 25 is the day Keys turned 38 and her husband, with whom she shares two sons, did not let the day go by without celebrating her.
Swizz took to Instagram with birthday tributes for the “No One” singer in several posts. Sharing a bare-faced portrait of Keys, he wrote:
“Happy Birthday to this 1 of 1 musical genius/human my wife aka Superwoman. Thank you for everything. Everybody please wish this genuine soul a super happy birthday. What’s your fav @aliciakeys song? #aliciakeys.”
The father-of-five also shared a cute picture of himself and Keys cuddling on a sofa. The singer looked lovely in a sleeveless dress and yellow head-wrap while Swizz rocked an all-white combination of shirt, pants, and hat complemented with a blue jacket. His caption, again, was in honor of his woman:
“Cheers to many more years of blessings. Happy Birthday to my wife aka the most amazing soul on earth.”
Finally, Swizz, born Kasseem Dean, shared a picture from one of their couple photo-shoots, disclosing that it was one of his favorite shots with Keys.
"HOMEWRECKER:" THE ORIGIN
Swizz, 40, and Keys have come a long way and crossed a lot of hurdles in the time since they’ve been together.
"There were times when we didn’t fully agree, but we were all comfortable just letting it go.”
The "Diary" singer started dating Swizz in 2008 while he was still married to singer, Mashonda Tifrere. Keys and Swizz have both said he was separated from Mashonda when they got together, but that has not stopped internet users from labeling Keys a “homewrecker.”
SPEAKING UP FOR HIS WIFE
Swizz came to his wife’s defense last August after trolls insulted her with the derogatory term again. He had shared a post advising men not to be jealous of their wife’s success, but most people chose to bash Keys for allegedly destroying his previous marriage.
In response, Swizz revealed that his ex and their son, Kasseem “KJ” Dean Jr. were, at the time, together on a blended family vacation.
MAKING IT WORK
Last year, Mashonda also wrote a book about co-parenting, detailing her mistakes and lessons from raising KJ with her ex and Keys. It’s one, big, happy family now but that wasn’t always the case.
“Time has a way of healing things,” she told PEOPLE Magazine in October. “But we also had to heal ourselves.”
She revealed that they all had group therapy and meditation sessions in their bid to create the best environment for their kids.
“It took two years into our blending to make it happen, but when we did it was like turning the light on. We realized we could minimize the impact on our children by reducing the conflict we had with one another. There were never any big blowouts. There were times when we didn’t fully agree, but we were all comfortable just letting it go.”
Swizz and Keys have two children, sons Egypt, eight, and Genesis, four. Meanwhile, Swizz also has an 18-year-old son, Prince Nasir with Nicole Levy and a ten-year-old daughter, Nicole, with Jahna Sebastian, a UK-based singer.
