Do you remember 'The Lost Boys'? They're probably coming back
Fans of "The Lost Boys" will be ecstatic to find out that the show might be making a come back. Apparently, CW intends to reboot "The Lost Boys."
The CW television network has greenlit four pilots recently. All four are based on well-known fan favorites and titles.
The titles included two spinoffs of existing CW series, Riverdale and Jane the Virgin and a Nancy Drew drama. Most importantly it included a reboot of "The Lost Boys."
"The Lost Boys" is the 80s vampire horror movie and a cult classic. The CW originally developed a series adaptation of the iconic 1987 Warner Bros horror comedy movie "The Lost Boys." However, the initial project didn’t go to pilot.
The network remains focused on the title and is apparently redeveloping the idea. Writer, Robert James Thomas is spreading himself thin with the new project but he is currently focusing on his Veronica Mars reboot for Hulu.
The show intends to stick to the original setting in Santa Carla. It will still focus on the secret underworld of vampires.
It is not the first time the original movies' success was used to launch another show. In the 90s, there were attempts for a number of sequels to the original series.
The show gave way to a script for a sequel called "The Lost Girls," amongst others. Joel Schumacher made several attempts at a sequel during the 1990s but alas it was not meant to be.
Instead, in 2008 the film gave rise to a comic book series, Lost Boys: Reign of Frogs, which serves as a sequel to the first film and a prequel to Lost Boys: The Tribe.
Lost Boys: The Tribe, was a direct-to-DVD sequel that was released more than 20 years after the release of the original film. Fans are now eagerly awaiting the possible CW series.
