Angela Bassett, 60, Defies Her Age in Light Pink Gown on Oscars Red Carpet with Husband of 21 Years
Angela Bassett is no stranger to looking younger than her age, and she did it again this past weekend while attending the Oscars ceremony with her husband of over two decades.
Bassett, 60, and her fellow actor husband, Courtney B. Vance, turned up the heat at this year’s Academy Awards event on Sunday in Los Angeles, California.
The phenomenal actress looked stunning in a pink single strap dress that screamed class and sophistication.
The outfit featured one dramatic, an extended train, and a slit that stopped a little above Bassett’s knees reveal shapely legs and feet completed with a pair of nude heels.
The “Olympus Has Fallen” star accessorized with a pink diamond clutch and matching earrings, and styled her waist-length hair in a sleek bun.
Vance, 58, was equally dapper in a monochrome tuxedo paired with dark sunglasses.
Bassett and Vance posed up a storm on the red carpet in photos shared to The Shade Room’s Instagram page, and the actress nailed the fierce look, thanks to her smokey eye makeup.
Vance has also said as much about his wife, describing her as “an angel.”
In a more laid-back photo probably taken at home before the pair headed out, Bassett cozied up to the “American Crime Story” actor and captioned the post:
“Hey Everybody, you good? Just hanging with my boo.”
Bassett and Vance met as students at the Yale School of Drama and did not start dating until they reconnected many years later.
The duo tied the knot in October 1997 and welcomed their twins -- son Slater, and daughter Bronwyn -- via surrogate in 2006.
Bassett admitted during an interview with PEOPLE last year that she does not keep count of how long she and Vance have been married.
“I hope that means I stay in the moment,” the “Survivor” actress joked.
Bassett also spoke glowingly of her husband’s “consistency, how he treated other people, of what a supporter he is, what a connector of people and ideas he is, [and] how passionate he is.”
Vance has also said as much about his wife, describing her as “an angel” and “a rare ruby” that God brought to him.
The two have long been considered as black love and marriage goals, supporting each other wholeheartedly in their endeavors.
Last Sunday, Vance shared in his wife’s joy as “Black Panther,” the Marvel superhero film where she stars as the Queen, made history at the Oscars.
The “Law & Order: Criminal Intent” actor was just as enthusiastic as Bassett when they spoke about the movie with E! on the Awards’ red carpet.
Bassett said she knew “Black Panther” was going to be a hit after seeing fans’ reaction to the trailer, and Vance echoed her point, saying:
"People were losing their minds, literally, crying, shaking. ...over the trailer."
