“You know this about me. I told you I've had my bout with substance abuse,” she began during Tuesday’s Hot Topics segment. “Once you're a substance abuse user, you have to battle that for the rest of your life. I’ve told you my over-ten-year ride with cocaine and crack.”

The TV host added:

“Crack is wack. I was a mess, you know, functioning, killing myself. I realized I am a walking addict. You can't just clean it up and stop it and think that it’s not going to affect you. …I wasted a lot of my life burning my insides, which aren’t burnt thank God, but You never know when it could pop up. I constantly have to watch the inside of my body because of hard partying, plus you know, the thyroid; just a mess!”

“Towards the end of the two weeks, I start to feel thyroid-ish,” she continued. “Well, they're still adjusting my meds and, if you don't know about thyroid disease, it's a lifetime thing and they're always adjusting and always doing stuff, and it can really screw you over.”

A NECESSARY HEALTH BREAK

Williams has always been open about her struggles with Graves’ disease and hyperthyroidism condition. She sparked concerns toward the end of last year after viewers noticed she was sitting throughout her show and those concerns heightened after the TV personality came on-air with a fractured shoulder that left her wearing a sling.

Williams was away for two months, “taking a necessary, extended break from her show to focus on her personal and physical well-being."

ADDRESSING INFIDELITY RUMORS

There were rumors that her husband, Kevin Hunter, was cheating and had gotten his mistress pregnant, but Williams debunked the speculations upon her return.

“I want to shout-out to my husband. I’m still wearing my ring. Well, believe me you, when you've been with somebody for 28 years, married for 25 years - when we got married we waited like four years before doing the baby projects and stuff. So we know each other. He is my best friend, my lover.”

While on her break, several celebrities filled in for Williams, including Nick Cannon, Sherri Shepherd, and Keke Palmer.
