An R&B singer from Chicago went home with a double win after auditioning for “The Voice” and proposing to his girlfriend on national television. However, things didn’t go as swiftly as the man expected, but it did make a good comedy piece.

Denton Arnell, a 31-year-old singer from Chicago, was featured on the last episode of the singing competition “The Voice,” as part of the blind auditions.

Singing a funky version of Drake’s “Hold On, We’re Going Home,” Arnell managed to get the judges and the audience bopping to his performance, but only John Legend turned his chair, while Kelly Clarkson, Adam Levine, and Blake Shelton preferred to save space for another contestant on their teams.

After his rendition, Arnell got compliments from the judges, with Levine stating he has a “great voice” and Legend welcoming into his team, adding:

“Your tone is wonderful. You took a song that could have been a lot less exciting, but I think you were really creative with the melody and made it your own, and I’m excited to have you on my team, brother.”

Then, Arnell asked if it was okay for him to share the special moment with his girlfriend, Tiffany, who was waiting on the sidelines along with his family.

They’ve been dating for three years and met in church, Denton explained before his audition.

After Tiffany joined him on stage, Arnell surprised everyone when he stated: “Being that [Legend] gave me a yes, I wanted to see if Tiffany would give me a yes,” as he got a ring box out of his pocket.

Then, for the amusement of the judges and everyone watching, the excitement, and nerves of the moment got the best of the couple, and just when Arnell was going to kneel, he and Tiffany ended up butting heads.

The raw sound of their clash was loud and clear thanks to the microphone, but luckily, the incident didn’t ruin the special moment.

Afterward, Arnell got on one knee and put the ring on Tiffany’s finger, as he asked again if she would say yes. An emotional Tiffany accepted the proposal, as everyone clapped and cheered for the newly engaged couple.

Among the judges, Blake Shelton is already an expert on impromptu proposals happening in front of him.

Last year, Shelton was in the middle of a concert in Fresno when he had to stop the music and witness a romantic gesture.

A young man named Robbie decided to propose to his long-time girlfriend Shianne during the concert.

Robbie had got down on one knee and pulled out a beautiful ring. His girlfriend Shianne looked suitably shocked. And Blake couldn't help but smile at what he was witnessing. He grabbed the microphone and asked Robbie if he was really going to propose to her.

With a big smile on his face, Robbie said "yes," hoping that Shianne would say "yes" as well.

With Robbie smiling nervously at her and Blake watching them from the stage, Shianne didn't need to think twice - she immediately said "yes," and the two lovebirds hugged tightly.
