Days after its creation, the new official Instagram account of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex is already unveiling hidden treasures from the couple’s photo archive. A picture from 2017 shows them outside their comfort zone.

In August 2017, before the two were married, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle traveled to Botswana just in time to celebrate the latter’s 36th birthday, and they paid a visit to Dr. Mike Chase of Elephants Without Borders.

Harry has always been committed to wildlife conservation, and as patron of Rhino Conservation Botswana, he has seen the situation of endangered species in the country, working very close to the animals.

This is an interest he shares with both his brother Prince William and his father Prince Charles, and the three of them wanted to show their support to the cause of ecology by attending the premiere of nature documentary series “Our Planet.”

While pregnant Markle didn’t attend the event at the Natural History Museum, the new account Sussex Royal featured a never-before-seen image of Harry and she as they placed a tracking collar on a sedated bull elephant in Botswana.

Botswana holds a special meaning for the Duke and Duchess of Harry. It was one of the first places the couple traveled together after they started dating, and when the time came for Harry to propose, he included a diamond from the country in Meghan’s engagement ring.

The snapshot was posted as part of a photo slide that also shows Harry, William, and Charles, at the red carpet event that marked the release of the Netflix series. The Royals were pictured alongside series narrator Sir David Attenborough.

Apart from the aforementioned red carpet picture, the post showed several images of Harry and Meghan field trips to the African country.

“Prince Harry’s longtime commitment to this cause as well as a glimpse into the work he and The Duchess of Sussex did in 2017,” the slideshow caption summarized.
