Remember '80s Rapper MC Lyte? She Found Love One Year after Praying for a Husband
Hip Hop pioneer MC Lyte has revealed how the power of prayer brought her the love of a good man.
Back in the 80s Lana "MC Lyte" Moorer was blazing trails and opening the way for today's female rappers, such as Cardi B, Kodie Shane, Quay Dash, and Rico Nasty.
But her professional success came at a price, and at the age of 45 she was alone and longed for love.
A PRAYER FOR LOVE
Lyte hosts a yearly woman's retreat called the W.E.A.L.T.H. Experience during which women pray for their goals in their personal and professional lives.
Last year, the women at the event prayed for Lyte's goal, which was to find love and get married.
MEETING THE MAN OF HER DREAMS ONLINE
Lyte joined dating service Match.com, where she met Marine Corps veteran and entrepreneur John Wyche. The connection was immediate, and Wyche would later confess that he decided to marry Lyte just weeks after their meeting.
"A few months into getting to know Lana I knew I wanted this woman as my wife," he revealed.
A MATCH MADE IN HEAVEN
A year after praying for love, Lyte tied the knot with her beloved John at the Sandals Royal Caribbean Resort in Montego Bay, Jamaica surrounded by a host of celebrity guests which included YoYo, Niatia " Lil Mama" Kirkland, Kelly Price and Coko of R&B group SWV.
The recently married rapper has seen her acting career take off, with a lot of work coming her way.
MC LYTE: "THANK YOU, LORD!"
Lyte has attributed her good fortune to the power of prayer and God's intervention in her life.
"What can I say, except thank you Lord!!! ... It's been a long time, this single life, and I thank you all for your prayers and kind words of hope. God has sent me true love. For all of you waiting on LOVE- don't give up – keep God first and he will see that you meet your match. #godisall."
Lyte revealed that her relationship with her husband is based on trust and the willingness to open up and be vulnerable to each other. Finally, she confessed, her life is complete.
