Aisha Tyler of 'Criminal Minds' Posts about Taping the Last Episode
To commemorate the first day in the shooting of the final episode of the series “Criminal Minds,” Aisha Tyler shared some treasured memories of the day.
Fans of the crime-fighting series will know Aisha as Tara Lewis, the forensic psychologist, and supervisory special agent that joined “Criminal Minds” in its eleventh season. The actress posted a gallery of images taken during the day along with pictures “from our very last table read in the entire universe ever.”
The beginning of her caption reflected the same manner of finality as she wrote, “Today is the first day of taping of the last episode of @crimmindscbs EVER.”
In several images, Aisha got pictured with co-star Matthew Gray Gubler, who plays the role of the criminal profiler Dr. Spencer Reid. Both posed together for a happy snap clad in matching jumpsuits. Aisha went all orange from suit to shoes while Matthew looked pretty in pink with yellow converse shoes.
“[Matthew Gray Gubler] and I decided we would make it #jumpsuitmonday. We look like twins! #cmspiritday," she wrote.
As part of the caption, Aisha also told fans that she would try to document “a little bit every day” until the final wrap in two weeks.
The actress also wrote about her co-stars and what working with them, meant to her. "I love this cast and crew in a way I will never be able to fully articulate; in the four-plus years I have been here I have laughed and cried and hugged and yelled and grown so much in the company of these brilliant people," Aisha reminisced.
Her caption ended on a more emotional tone as the series in its fifteenth season, enters is final days of shooting. “These days are so sweetly bittersweet. It’s hard to imagine my life without this place,” she wrote. “We’re going to have an amazing last few days, hug it out, and drop the mic.”
Fans of the series responded woefully at the finality of the much-loved shows ending."Mannn, it hurts to even read the words 'last episode of Criminal Minds,'" one fan responded, while another added, "This makes me wanna cry ??? I’ve been watching this show since I was 14."
When Matthew recently spoke with Parade, he tried not to give any spoilers regarding Season 15 before it premieres.
Reports have it that the entire cast will be back for its final season, so fans can expect to see Emily Prentiss (Paget Brewster), Penelope Garcia (Kirsten Vangsnes), Jennifer "J.J." Jareau (A.J. Cook), David Rossi (Joe Mantegna), and of course Matthew and Aisha.
Matthew also revealed that his character’s schizophrenic mother, Diana, played by Jane Lynch would be joining the cast for its final season as well.
The shows executive producer, Erica Messer hinted at the possibility that some of the cast members from previous seasons would be returning too.
She promised the finale to be a “tearjerker” and added in a separate interview, “I am very hopeful that we can honor all of those characters who have been beloved and with this team, with the audience for years."
The CBS series’ final season is set to premiere in Fall 2019; however, no official airing date is available yet.
Some may remember the cliffhanger the previous season ended on, as the “emotional” episode saw Matthew and A.J. Cook kidnapped and fighting for their lives while David Rossi (Joe Mantegna) finally tied the knot.
