Royal Family Accidentally Introduces Archie as Prince William & Kate's Son
After the world got to meet Prince Harry and Meghan’s baby for the first time, the royal family’s website quickly posted an update on the joyous occasion, but in the process, they accidentally mismatched parents.
The moment everyone had been waiting for since the royal couple’s pregnancy announcement in October finally came early on Monday when Meghan gave birth to Archie.
An excited Prince Harry made an official announcement at Windsor and called it the “most amazing experience,” but the world had to wait two days before they would get their first glimpse of the couple’s son.
On Wednesday, Prince Harry and Meghan met with the press at Windsor Castle to introduce their newborn son to the world.
Cozily cradled in Prince Harry’s arms, one could clearly see Archie’s cute face as they told reporters what "an absolute dream" their newborn has been since his birth.
They also announced his name for the first time after the Queen and Prince Phillip had a chance to fuss over the new royal.
The royal family’s website soon updated with a welcome message to the newest member of the royal family but they initially got a crucial part of the message wrong which read:
"Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor was born at 05.26am on Monday, May 6. He is the first child of The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and is seventh in line to the throne. Archie weighed 7lb 30oz, and The Duke of Sussex was present for the birth."
As we all know, Archie is not Kate’s child, nevermind her first, and the mistake soon got corrected with Archie’s parents correctly named, but not before fans took notice.
The royal contributor, Omid Scobie posted a screenshot of the unfortunate mishap along with an empathetic caption:
Some netizens found humor in the mistake and suggested that little Archie gained a few spots in line to the throne and wrote:
Others found similar humor in the mix-up as a fan joked that someone should inform Kate of her new baby:
There were those, of course, that voiced more critical opinions about the mistake. “We forgive..no one's perfect! But you know, it's Journalism 101 to PROOFREAD!?(author's eye, editor, proofreader & 1 more before hitting the click button),” a Twitter user added.
None the less, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry looked every bit the proud new parents at their first public appearance with their adorable son.
While they posed for official pictures and answered a few questions about parenthood and Archie, the pair lovingly looked at each other, and their son as Meghan stayed by Prince Harry’s side and her son during the talk with reporters.
