Remy Ma Shares Video Tribute to Her Husband Papoose on Their 11th Anniversary
They’ve been through a lot, but Remy Ma and Papoose are celebrating 11 years of being married, and the female rapper took to social media to reveal how they spent their special day.
Thriving celebrity marriages are becoming more of a rare phenomenon, so when we see one that has lasted for over a decade and survived challenges like jail time and infertility, it’s worth celebrating.
Remy took to Instagram on May 14 with a video compilation featuring photos of her and Papoose over the years.
“Yesterday made 11 years I’ve been married to my husband @PapoosePapoose ELEVEN YEARS of unconditional unwavering committed LOVE & MARRIAGE!!” gushed the “Shether” rapper before revealing how they spent their day.
“We didn’t have a big celebration or social announcement, we just spent the day together (me, him & the Golden Child)- we ate some good food, watched a movie, put out a record lol and took turns playing songs that remind us of different times in our relationship and it was perfect.”
“You can’t fake this type of love you can’t #CC this type of loyalty,” she concluded. “NOTHING and I mean NOTHING or NO ONE will ever change that. I love you, my King. Happy anniversary.”
MARRIAGE & JAIL
Remy and Papoose have weathered several storms and are still dealing with other challenges at the moment, but the rap couple continues to represent Black Love to the fullest.
Remy, whose real name is Reminisce Mackie, and Papoose, whose birth name is Shamele Mackie, were reportedly married by a judge over the phone in 2008. Their rushed marriage came just before Remy was handed an eight-year prison sentence on assault charges.
INFERTILITY STRUGGLES
Papoose stood by his woman as she served her time in jail, and a year after she was released on parole in 2014, the couple had their dream wedding at the Aria Wedding and Banquet facility in Connecticut.
Then came the next challenge: infertility. Remy and her rapper/songwriter hubby suffered a miscarriage and eventually had to resort to IVF before achieving success.
FINALLY, A BABY!
In July of 2018, the rap couple had their vow renewal ceremony and used the opportunity to inform friends and well-wishers that they were expecting a baby, who they since nicknamed “The Golden Child.”
Remy and Papoose welcomed their first child together, daughter Reminisce MacKenzie Mackie, on December 14, 2018. Since then, the Black love advocates have been over the moon, and not even their recent legal troubles seem to have changed that.
FRESH LEGAL TROUBLES
Remy, who is still on parole, is currently facing assault-related charges for an alleged attack reported by her “Love & Hip Hop” co-star Brittney Taylor.
The rapper and another of her “L&HH” co-stars Safaree Samuels are also reportedly being sued by The Circle Foundation over an alleged breach of contract.
Nonetheless, Remy seems to be living her best life with the love of her life, and here’s wishing her and Papoose more blissful years of marriage.
