Kelly Ripa Mocked by Mike Fleiss, 'Bachelor' Creator and Host, after Saying She Is 'Disgusted' by the Show
On Tuesday’s episode of “Live with Kelly and Ryan, Kelly Ripa took a swipe at two ABC reality dating shows. However, she wasn’t expecting the creator and host of one of the shows to respond.
On the recent episode of the show hosted by Kelly Ripa, 48, and Ryan Seacrest, 44, the latter informed Ripa that the current “Bachelorette” star Hannah Brown would be a guest on their show later in the week. Ripa responded by sharing her confusion over who the franchise’s new lead was.
She then shared her displeasure about "The Bachelor.” The morning host also chastised her audience members for watching what she described as a “gross” show.
Speaking about the reality dating series she said: “You guys know how I feel about the show — it disgusts me.” Ripa explained her position saying: “I can’t stand the idea of 25 exceptional women fighting over one ordinary fella, in my opinion.”
“You know how I feel, ladies — we are too special to be arguing over a guy. Having said that, all of you women watch that gross, gross show.”
Speaking about “The Bachelorette” she added: "I found that show just as creepy but in a completely different way." She continued: "I was like, 'Ew, eww, ewww.'"
Her controversial comments ended up landing her in hot water. The creator and host of the long-running ABC reality franchise, Mike Fleiss, responded to her via Twitter.
In a simple by direct tweet Fleiss mocked Ripa by writing: “Easy, @KellyRipa ... #TheBachelor franchise pays your salary!” ABC also happens to own Ripa’s show with Ryan. Franchise host Chris Harrison also took to Twitter to address Ripa.
Brown originally appeared on season 23 of the original series. At the time, she’d fought to win the heart of Colton Underwood, 27.
“The Bachelorette” airs on Mondays at 8 p.m. EST.
