The Sun: Mel B Races to Hospital after 'Going Blind' in Right Eye

Mel B was rushed to the hospital last Friday after losing the sight in her right eye, making the future of the upcoming and much-publicized Spice Girls tour uncertain.

The singer, who has been blind in her left eye since undergoing a botched laser surgery many years ago, had to be rushed to London’s Moorfields Eye Hospital, reports The Sun.

“I can’t see anything — I am totally blind,” Mel B reportedly screamed as she arrived at the hospital wearing an eye patch. Sources also told the UK celebrity news site that Mel, otherwise known as Scary Spice, was in a lot of pain.

An insider added:

“Mel was in a really bad way. The other girls [Spice Girls’ bandmates] and their managers were really worried. Mel was frantic and screaming that she couldn’t see a thing. She went to the hospital in a chauffeur-driven car with an assistant, who was holding her hand. No one knew what brought it on but she had very swift, and very good treatment.”

The 43-year-old was transferred to Luton and Dunstable Hospital’s ophthalmology department where she received specialist treatment and left against doctor’s orders as soon as her sight was restored.

Mel reportedly left in a hurry because she wanted to join her Spice Girls bandmates -- Geri Horner, Emma Bunton, and Melanie Chisholm -- for rehearsals in preparation for their upcoming Spice World 2019 tour.

A source also revealed that Horner, Bunton, and Chisholm were on hand to support their bandmate while making sure they didn’t fall behind on rehearsals.

“Mel was determined to get back in action and was very brave,” the source continued. “The situation did cause concern, and it is something the girls and those around them will monitor closely when the concerts start.”

The tour is scheduled to kick off in Dublin on May 24 with subsequent stops in Cardiff, Manchester, Coventry, Sunderland, Edinburgh, Bristol and London.

Only last December, Mel B made an emergency trip to the hospital after sustaining injuries including two broken ribs and a severed right hand.

Although the singer did not disclose how she came about the injuries, she did tell fans that she had to have a 3-hour surgery and posed for a picture with her purple arm sling.
