Whitney Houston’s estate just announced plans to launch a hologram tour for the late singer as part of a huge marketing deal, but many fans are not in support and don’t mind sharing their opinions.

Seven years after the late Whitney’s tragic death, her estate is now looking to explore the commercial potential of her legacy by signing a new marketing deal with a boutique music and marketing company, Primary Wave Music Publishing, reports The New York Times.

The deal includes a hologram tour, an album of unreleased tracks, and a possible Broadway musical. The outlet further writes:

“As part of the agreement, Primary Wave will acquire 50 percent of the estate’s assets, which include the singer’s royalties from music and film, merchandising, and the right to exploit her name and likeness. The deal values the estate at $14 million, according to two people familiar with the arrangement.”

PERFORMING HOLOGRAM

“Everything is about timing for me,” said Pat Houston, Whitney’s sister-in-law and estate executor. “It’s been quite emotional for the past seven years. But now it’s about being strategic.”

“The hologram has taken precedence over everything,” she added.

The hologram project is reportedly under development and will feature a 3D hologram rendering of the late legend performing hits like “I Wanna Dance With Somebody (Who Loves Me)” and “The Greatest Love of All.”

WILL WHITNEY LOVE IT?

The Guardian quotes Pat as saying she’s convinced Whitney would have loved the idea of the hologram tour:

“Whitney prided herself on her family and that included her fans. She adored her audiences and that’s why we know she would have loved this holographic theatrical concept.”

FAN REACTIONS

Ironically, those same fans are now kicking against the concept and saying as much all over social media.

The Shade Room uploaded a post of the announcement on Instagram, and users flocked to the comments section to air their opinions.

“Sorry but no,” wrote one Instagram user. “Money hungry [people]. She’s gone and so is her daughter so who is benefiting from this? Let her rest.”

“Why????? Why can’t people just Rest In Peace?” echoed another.

WHITNEY'S LEGACY

A third fan made it known that the idea of an album with unreleased songs was better than the hologram:

“Unreleased music, yes. Hologram, no. Stop trying to make that a thing.”

“Please let her rest,” pleaded the fourth fan. “Don’t ruin her legacy.”

Whitney, a six-time Grammy winner and one of the bestselling music artists of all time, died in February of 2012 after she was found submerged in a bathtub with drugs, including cocaine and Xanax, in her system.
