Mary J. Blige's Dad Nearly Died after Being Critically Stabbed by His Girlfriend
The woman who stabbed Mary J. Blige’s father was sentenced to 365 days in the Calhoun County Jail for assault.
Singer Mary J. Blige's father was viciously stabbed by his former girlfriend, Cheryl White.
Despite the seriousness of the charges, White, who pleaded no contest to the accusations, was given a surprisingly light prison sentence.
THE ACCUSATION AGAINST CHERYL WHITE
White was accused of stabbing Blige outside his apartment after the man found her slashing his tires.
White then turned on Blige, who suffered severe stab wounds to his neck, chest, and arm.

CHERYL WHITE'S SURPRISING SENTENCE
White was sentenced to 365 days in the Calhoun County Jail with credit for 270 days she has already served since her arrest. White had pleaded no contest to the charges of assault with intent to commit great bodily harm.
A no contest plea means that a defendant in a criminal prosecution accepts conviction but does not admit guilt.
CHERYL WHITE PLACED ON PROBATION
White's plea agreement with prosecutors stipulated that she would not be sentenced to more than a year in jail.
Judge Conrad Sindt placed White on five years of probation and ordered her to pay $17,290 to Mary Jane Productions for medical treatment for Blige which was paid for by Mary J.

Mary J. Blige was a close friend of the recently deceased Kim Porter, and she has been there for her children since the tragic event.
On the occasion of what would have been Porter's 48th birthday, her family and friends got together to celebrate her life.
