California Bride's Unconventional Swimsuit Bridal Gown Has the Internet Divided

An unconventional wedding dress, which could be better described as a swimsuit, has users on social media divided. Some loved it and praised the bride for her confidence, and others tackled the outfit as “inappropriate” and “tacky.”

Claudia Barbosa, from San Jose, California, is not shy when it comes to showing off her curvaceous body and toned legs. So, when she decided to have a destination wedding at Bora Bora, the gorgeous bride asked the Es Azenabor Atelier to design a wedding dress apt to the occasion and place.

The final result was a non-traditional off-white wedding outfit featuring a strapless diamond-embellished bodysuit with a sweetheart neckline that barely reached her thighs and had a ruffled peplum along the bottom.

The wedding look was completed with a detachable sparkly tulle train that was fastened at the waist and covered only the back of the bride’s legs.

A video of the bride’s final fitting, where she’s seen glowing with happiness seeing the final product, was posted by the atelier’s Instagram account and has earned national attention and mixed reactions from social media users.

While many people loved the out-of-the-box outfit and praised Claudia for her originality and confidence, others crucified her for going out of the traditional way and ditching the usual long gown.

“I love that she stepped out the box for a beach wedding and did her own damn thing. You look fabulous. Big congrats to you and hubby,” wrote one sympathetic user.

And another agreed,

“I think she looks amazing. This is a beach wedding, & more importantly, it's HER DAY. let her wear what the hell she wants to wear and keep your judgment to yourselves.”

Meanwhile, another person found the outfit a bit inappropriate, saying:

“Even if it’s for the beach, she needs to leave something for the imagination. You are married now!! Lol”

And this user pointed out: “The shorts need to be a little longer, I feel like it's even inappropriate for a performance, but hey congrats on the wedding.”

The controversy surrounding the dress was such that it reached Wendy Williams’ show.

The host, known for always speaking up her mind without filters, praised Claudia for her choice and called out the haters saying “Who are you, haters? She’s having a beach wedding, and this is the final fitting video…I think she looks fantastic.”

And added:

“People think it’s inappropriate that she’s not wearing the long gown. She’s not wearing a thong or anything like that. I think she looks wonderful.”

Barbosa took to Instagram to thank Williams for her input and promised to send the host her wedding day pics so she could see the final result and how everything came together.

Despite the critics, Claudia seems to still on cloud nine after her beach wedding. She looked gorgeous on the D-day, and her husband was more than pleased with her look.
