Attending a formal banquet in Buckingham Palace, Donald Trump puts his hand on the back of Queen Elizabeth and has since caused an uproar as to whether it is right or not.

Trump, who holds the 93-year-old Queen in high esteem spoke of her in great terms when he said:

“From the second world war until today, her majesty has stood as a constant symbol of these priceless traditions."

The Queen also holds the president of the USA in mutual esteem as she made it known in a speech at the banquet. It wasn't long after he expressed his admiration for the queen that he put his hand on her back as the monarch stood with her glass of English wine and he used his left hand to tap her shoulder.

It is established that there is no mandatory code of behavior when meeting a member of the royal family, but the traditional rules are; a neck bow for the men and short curtesy by the women or the normal handshake.

It appeared the Queen didn't feel bothered about the unconventional manner in which Trump addressed her as she remained graceful and hospitable.

Maybe Mitchelle Obama made precedence of the informal manner of greeting the Queen when she wrapped her arms around her in 2009 at the Buckingham Palace during a reception.

The blue blood responded by reciprocating the act. Obama, in her book, made mention of the fact that though her gesture towards the Queen may not have been formal, it was out of love and respect. She said:

“If I hadn't done the proper thing at Buckingham Palace, I had at least done the human thing."

Trump, who is on a four-day trip to Europe to celebrate the anniversary of the D-day, arrived with his wife Melania in England and will visit Ireland and France respectively.

The D-day is an age long celebration, 75-years-old, which is used to mark the largest seaborne invasion in history during the WW2 codenamed, Operation Neptune.

The US leader who has been known to engage people in strong and long handshakes has been careful when it comes to the monarch. He's always sure to lean from a distance and gently take her hands in his.

Body language expert, Ms. Judi evaluated a picture of Trump shaking the monarch during a visit which looked like a fist bump.

She believes that Donald Trump couldn't have a good grasp of the Queen's hand because of her petite size and so could only get hold of her fingers which were a huge contrast to his and made it look like a fist bump.
