R&B singer Jaheim has been away from the spotlight for years, popping up on our radar once in a while. He was recently spotted in Times Square and seemed to be in high spirits.
If you knew your R&B in the early 2000s, then you’ll remember Jaheim, the New Jersey native most known for his 2002 single "Put That Woman First."
For a while now, Jaheim has kept a low profile, popping up sometime last year with a new look that had fans wondering if he was okay.
In the most recent sighting, Jaheim, 41, was spotted by a couple of fans while “casually strolling through Times Square.” The Shade Room posted a clip of the singer interacting with excited fans, and he seemed pretty happy with himself.
Jaheim was dressed in a red suit with a patterned shirt, glittering silver shoes, and a red-and-gold crown. He also held on to a suitcase and another bag.
In subsequent postings, Jaheim addressed the speculations that he was unwell, claiming the opposite
The Instagram clip has since racked up over a million views, with social media users divided in their comments. While some made fun of the "Beauty and the Thug" singer, others came to his defense.
Check out a few of both sides below:
“He Look Like He Need To Be Hosting Kids “Bounce House” Parties With The Sno Cone Machine”~ @the_shadow_group
“The New Burger King man!!”~ @randomlike_nia
“Don’t say mean things about him. Let’s believe in him and push him towards a great come back! For once can we not kick our black kings when they’re down!”~ @glamourqueen_mua
“He has an expensive suitcase for anyone who knows about luggage!! It looks like he was shopping or something so why are y’all trying to make it seem like he’s out for the count? Leave that man alone and let him live his life!!!”~ @starbucxx
Jaheim sparked concern sometime last year after posting a bizarre video on Instagram. Apart from keeping eerily mute in the video, the singer also sported beards that looked unkempt and discolored, and he had lost a ton of weight.
In subsequent postings, Jaheim addressed the speculations that he was unwell, claiming the opposite: that he was better than ever thanks to a new vegan lifestyle.
If this is the case, fans of the R&B icon may have to say goodbye to the old, braid-wearing Jaheim they used to know.
One thing remains the same, however: the man can sing!
