David Foster’s Daughter Amy Diagnosed with Breast Cancer Reveals She ‘Flunked’ Her Mammogram
Amy Foster is fully prepared to do what she has to do after discovering she has breast cancer, and there's a bright side to her diagnosis.
Musician David Foster's daughter Amy Foster updated fans about her health status on Instagram. Though the news is not exactly good, Amy looked at the glass from a half-full perspective.
"You may have noticed that I've gone a little dark on social media," she began. She then announced that she "flunked" a mammogram exam. Her post is found below.
She continued:
"I felt a lump and got it checked and yep....Breast cancer. The great news is that I caught it early and although I am getting a mastectomy- I don’t need chemo."
Amy went on to say that she feels "so lucky and grateful for this diagnosis which could have easily been so much worse if [she waited]." She encouraged all women to get a mammogram if they feel any lumps.
"KNOWING IS BETTER," she insisted, despite the fact that knowing one has cancer would typically considered bad news in any situation. She finished off with what she called a "mantra" women typically use to minimize their feelings.
"But in my case, it really is the truth... I'm fine," Amy said, before cursing out cancer in a hashtag. The comment section was filled with words of encouragement for the author and songwriter.
The accompanying picture showed the mother of three lying face down on a machine, presumably in a hospital. She had a peace sign up as the picture was taken.
Her famous dad was among the many persons who commented, apologizing at first for the delay because of his trip to China. He then expressed how proud he was of his daughter's strength and her results.
He called her attitude "incredible" and supported the message she gave to women. Finally, he pledged to stay "right beside" Amy as she deals with a situation that he said will soon be behind her.
The 69-year-old musician is currently engaged to 34-year-old Katharine McPhee. It will be his fifth marriage, but that's not what his daughters poked fun at when they heard the news.
In response to David's photograph announcing the news, daughter Erin Foster wrote "Mommmyyy" in the comments. Sara Foster also jokingly said, "Out of the country, What did I miss?"
However, the women clarified months back that they approved of their father's new love. Speaking to People in 2017, Erin described McPhee as "amazing" and "awesome."
Later on, in a December 2017 interview with Us Weekly, Sara also expressed how she and her sisters wholeheartedly accepted McPhee. Apparently, the Foster family is filled with support in any situation.
