The Obamas Dine with U2's Bono at French Château as European Vacation Continues
The Obamas met up with Bono and The Edge during their French vacation. They were spotted having lunch at a renowned restaurant. The former first family is reportedly staying at a mansion the rock duo owns in Eze.
Barack Obama and his family are having a grand time vacationing in France and apart from seeing the sights in the country, they’ve been spending time with A-listers. This week, the family of four was with U2’s Bono and The Edge.
THEY GO WAY BACK
It’s no secret the popular duo is a friend of the family. Bono worked closely with Barack during his two-term administration through Bono’s global campaign and advocacy group, One.
Prior to that, the singer/philanthropist heavily campaigned for the former US president both in 2008 and 2012. U2’s “City of Blinding Lights” was a recurring soundtrack during the campaign trail. Likewise, in 2017, Barack bid goodbye as president by walking out of the stage after his farewell speech to that same tune.
THEY CONTINUE TO BE FRIENDS
With no love lost between them after Barack’s presidency, Bono, The Edge, and the Obamas met up for lunch recently at a famous restaurant in the medieval village of Eze, France. Barack, his wife Michelle Obama and their daughters Malia and Sasha joined the formidable rock duo at the 2-Michelin-star restaurant, La Chèvre d'Or.
Bono and The Edge co-own a luxury mansion in Eze and the Obamas may be staying with them during their brief stay.
PHOTOS REVEAL THEIR RELAXED LOOK
Also reportedly with them were Bono’s wife, Ali Hewson and another woman believed to be the singer’s 30-year-old daughter, Jordan Hewson. Photos featured by The Daily Mail reveal Michelle looking relaxed flaunting her natural hair and dressed in a tangerine sundress. She walked next to Bono who was casually dressed in a black t-shirt and pants, a pair of slip-ons, and a wide-brimmed hat. The former president matched Bono's look in a black t-shirt, relaxed dark pants, white sneakers, and a cap.
WHERE THEY STAYED
Bono and The Edge co-own a luxury mansion in Eze and the Obamas may be staying with them during their brief stay. They were previously in Provence staying at a $60,000 a week farmhouse.
The Obamas began their French vacation last Friday. They flew in to Avignon by private jet shortly after celebrating Sasha’s high school graduation. By Father’s Day, they were dining at glitzy La Mirande.
NEXT STOP: LAKE COMO WITH ANOTHER CELEBRITY
From Eze, the former first family will reportedly be moving to Lake Como where they’ll be meeting up with another A-lister, George Clooney. The actor and his wife, Amal Clooney will be hosting the family in their home in Laglio. The following day, they’ll be attending a charity dinner for The Clooney Foundation for Justice.
