Paula is known for her impeccable culinary skills and famous cooking shows including “Paula’s Home Cooking”, “Paula’s Best Dishes”, and “Positively Paula.”

PERSONAL LIFE AND CAREER

The esteemed chef is a proud mother of two grown-up sons who have paved their own path to recognition.

Paula’s eldest son, James Deen, is a restaurateur and a TV personality while her youngest son Bobby is a TV chef who also manages a restaurant. They have taken after their mother so well.

Besides being a proud mother to her sons, the food connoisseur is a loving wife to her husband Michael Groover, who she married in 2004.

Born in Albany Georgia in 1947, Paula attended Albany High School and went on to marry her high school sweetheart, Jimmy Deen, in 1965 after her graduation.

Unfortunately, her marriage could not last long and she got divorced with her sons’ father in 1989 after an unsuccessful union fueled by his addiction to alcohol.

Paula’s love for Southern recipes motivated her to open her own restaurant called “The Lady and Sons” in 1996 in downtown Savannah.

After her restaurant was awarded the title of “International Meal of the Year”, she released her first cookbook called “Lady and Sons Savannah Country Cookbook” which became a big hit.

It wasn’t until 2002 that Deen landed her own cooking show called “Paula’s Home Cooking.” The incredible chef never looked back ever since.

Deen went on to host Food Network’s cooking show “Paula’s Best Dishes” in 2008.

DEEN’S RACIAL REMARK THAT GOT HER INTO TROUBLE

While Paula’s career was at its peak, Deen and her brother and restaurant co-owner, Bubba Hiers, were sued by their former employee on accounts of sexual abuse and racial harassment.

The famous chef admitted to using the N-word in June 2013 during a legal deposition.

Later on, she posted an apologetic video on YouTube, stating that she is not racist.

"Your color of your skin, your religion, your sexual preferences does not matter to me."

Following the controversy, the Paila was dropped by her network and publisher. She tried to make things right by reaching out to her fans through her tour “Paula Deen Live!” and even launched her online network “The Paula Deen Network” in September 2014.

In 2016, Paula hosted a family-friendly cooking show called “Positively Paula” from her home in Savannah after competing on “Dancing with the Stars” in 2015.

We hope the culinary star continues to live with a pleasant demeanor in days to come.
