Megan Rapinoe Flaunts Toned Body for Sports Illustrated Photoshoot after World Cup Win
Soccer superstar, Megan Rapinoe, looks fit and strong in various chic swimsuits, as she poses for the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue with Alex Morgan.
Megan Rapinoe is known to be a player for the US Women’s National Soccer Team, but she recently showed her skills as an undercover swimsuit model after debuting in the 2019 Sports Illustrated Issue cover.
PHOTO READY
The photoshoot took place in the paradise island of St. Lucia, where the talented photographer, Ben Watts, shot the Rapinoe and Morgan, along with USWNT defenders Abby Dahlkemper and Crystal Dunn.
Rapinoe is also an advocate and member of the LGBT community.
The photos release came shortly after Rapnioe’s team’s victory over the Netherlands with a 2-0 win on Sunday -- their second straight World Cup championship. Their superb soccer skills were also displayed on the photos as the girls showed some sports moves.
FIGHTING FOR EQUALITY
Apart from their glorious victory, the team also gained attention for their fight for women’s equality in the sports industry, among others. Living up to their advocacy, the team filed a lawsuit against the United States Soccer Federation in March for gender discrimination.
“Obviously, we would love not to be in this fight,” Rapinoe said. “We would love to not have to file this lawsuit and not have to engage in this, but that’s just not what’s happening.”
SHOWING PRIDE
Rapinoe is also an advocate and member of the LGBT community. The soccer star takes pride in being in a relationship with the Women’s National Basketball Association’s Seattle Storm’s point guard athlete, Sue Bird, whom she locked lips with after their soccer victory.
The two have been quite open about their relationship which was reported to have begun after they met at the 2016 Rio De Janeiro Olympics. Sharing in each others’ success and passion for sports is a beautiful bond that they have.
