'Criminal Minds': Everything We Know about the Final 15th Season

With the final season of "Criminal Minds" drawing near, people are wondering which of their idols are coming back for one last tearjerking season.

It's been quite an epic run for "Criminal Minds," airing for more than a decade since starting in September 2005. It's easy to say that through the years, the show's loyal fanbase stuck with it through its highs and lows, getting attached to the show's characters.

Now that they're headed towards their curtain call, fans can expect almost all of their favorite characters to head back for one last goodbye. Let's take a look at the "Criminal Minds" cast members who are expected to make a return to the show one last time.

The Seasoned Veterans

For the July/August issue of CBS' "Watch! Magazine," the show's veterans all joined forces for a promotional shoot that almost certainly announced their return to the show. The photos included Joe Mantegna (David Rossi), A.J. Cook (Jennifer "J.J." Jarreau), Matthew Gray Gubler (Spencer Reid), Kirsten Vangsness (Penelope Garcia), and Paget Brewster (Emily Prentiss).

They were also joined by Aisha Tyler (Tara Lewis), Adam Rodriguez (Luke Alvez), and Daniel Henney (Matt Simmons) for the "Criminal Minds" cover story that aimed to celebrate their show's nearing end.

Rumored Guest Stars

1. Rachel Leigh Cook

Rachel Leigh Cook is rumored to appear in Season 15 of "Criminal Minds" to be Spencer Reid's love interest, Max. Her character is a "quirky, kind-hearted, candid woman," who will spark a love triangle between her, Spencer, and J.J., whom "Criminal Minds" fans know recently confessed her feelings to Reid.

2. Jane Lynch

Jane Lynch, who played Spencer Reid's mother, Diana, is set to make a guest appearance this season the same way she would appear in previous seasons. According to Gubler himself, who was interviewed by Parade, Reid will have a happy ending, which everyone is definitely looking forward to.

3. Aaron Hotchner, Derek Morgan, Jason Gideon Thomas Gibson, who played Aaron Hotchner, Shemar Moore, who played Derek Morgan, and Mandy Patinkin, who played Jason Gideon, may also make an appearance according to Executive Producer Erica Messer.

The three characters were crowd favorites, and she made sure not to close any doors for the final season by saying:

"I am very hopeful that we can honor all of those characters who have been beloved and with this team, with the audience for years."

The Final 10

Erica Messer reveals that while the last season will be a tearjerker, she will not be saying goodbye to anyone for good.

"These people are family and friends to us at this point. I know a lot of shows, when they find out it's going to be over, then characters are killed off or something like that. That's not my instinct . . . So the jet won't crash, I can tell you that."

Criminal Minds Season 15 airs Fall 2019.
