Meghan Markle Sports a White Hugo Boss Skirt at Wimbledon
The Duchesses of Cambridge and Sussex returned to the London Grand Slam finals after also attending the sports event together last year, and the two made their best display of good taste in fashion.
Wimbledon 2019’s final women’s singles match took place on July 13, when sisters-in-law Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle, both 37 years old, graced the venue with their presence once again, donning very glamorous outfits.
MEGHAN'S IMPECCABLE STYLE
Markle looked incredible during one of her few public appearances amid her maternity leave after giving birth to her firstborn Archie Harrison early in May, wearing a $545 Hugo Boss white pleated skirt.
The Duchess added a matching crisp white shirt by Givenchy, and she completed her look by adding a Stella McCartney bag also in white and a pair of earrings by Jennifer Meyer. The former actress styled her hair in a full ponytail.
HER SECOND WIMBLEDON APPEARANCE THIS YEAR
Markle made her second appearance at the prestigious tennis tournament this year, once again to cheer on her friend Serena Williams, who ended up defeated by 27-year-old Simona Halep from Romania.
Prince Harry’s wife’s previous visit to Wimbledon caused quite a stir for Markle’s ban on photos. Controversy followed when Markle’s security guard attempted to stop a man from taking a selfie with the tennis court as background.
Markel doesn’t cease to be the target of bad press in England. During her more than two months of maternity leave, the Duchess has faced backlash for allegedly only showing up at frivolous and glamorous events while ignoring more important occasions.
JULY 4TH PHOTO BAN CONTROVERSY
The man, a 58-year-old named Hasan Hasanov, defended his right to take pictures that didn’t feature Markle in any way, and said he was more interested in photographing tennis star Roger Federer than capturing a snapshot of a Royal.
The US-born was also reportedly criticized by some members of the All England Club because of her choice of wearing denim for the July 4 tennis match.
But on that occasion, when Markle notoriously didn’t sit at the royal box, the Duchess might have dressed more casually than expected precisely not to draw attention to herself in order to be there as an ordinary citizen, although to no avail.
THE ALL ENGLAND CLUB
Despite the complaints of unidentified members of the All England Club about Markle’s choice of an outfit, the club’s official stance on the subject is more positive.
“Any suggestion that the duchess’s visit was anything other than a privilege for the club is categorically not the view of the club, and she is always welcome to attend the championships,” a spokesperson of the group told Elle.
CRITICISM ON HER MATERNITY LEAVE
Markel doesn’t cease to be the target of bad press in England. During her more than two months of maternity leave, the Duchess has faced backlash for allegedly only showing up at frivolous and glamorous events while ignoring more important occasions.
On June 6, Markel missed the opportunity to met World War Two veterans during the 75th anniversary of D Day, despite Prince Harry, himself a veteran, attending the Chelsea Founder’s Day event.
Then, on July 11, she failed to attend the Commonwealth Youth Roundtable, despite being recently appointed Vice-Patron of the Youth Commonwealth Trust.
