Katie Couric Pays Sweet Birthday Tribute to Daughter Elinor by Sharing Rare Family Photos
Katie Couric’s daughter Elinor celebrated her 28th birthday on July 23, and Couric shared the sweetest birthday message for her with some rare throwback family photos.
Elinor was born on July 23, 1991, to her father Jay Monahan and mother Katie Couric. To shower her with warm wishes on the special day, Couric took to Instagram to share a series of family pictures with a loving birthday wish.
The proud mother wrote:
“Elinor Tully Monahan!!!! Happy Birthday! This is going to be a great year. I’d write a lot of mushy stuff but not everything is for public consumption even though my followers feel like family. As the great Debby Boone would say, “You light up my life.”
When Elinor was barely 7 years old, she lost her father Monahan to colon cancer. However, Couric raised her with all the love and care that she could give as a single parent.
In 2013, Elinor graduated from Yale University and later graduated from Stanford in 2018.
LIFE AFTER JAY MONAHAN’S DEATH
Elinor and her sister, Carrie, are lucky to have a mother like Couric who loves and supports them unconditionally.
After the death of Monahan, Couric got into a few relationships but they all failed.
In 2012, she met banker John Molner through a mutual friend and the duo hit it off right away. After spending 10 months as an engaged couple, the love birds finally got married on June 21, 2014.
Opening up to People about her marriage to Molner, she said:
"It took me a long time [to marry again], because I loved being married and I love being married now. And I’m not a solitary person. I like company. And John is so funny. He’s just got this incredibly dry and wry sense of humor, and he doesn’t take himself too seriously. And he’s just fun to be around."
Although she is happily married to Molner, the mother-of-two does not refrain from confessing that she still misses Monahan.
