Lela Rochon Flashes Smile & Wedding Ring in 1st Sighting since Nicole Murphy Scandal

Lela Rochon made her first public appearance following the cheating scandal involving her husband, Antoine Fuqua, and Nicole Murphy. Rochon seems to be doing fine as she flashed her wedding ring an held her head high despite the rumors surrounding her family.

Lela Rochon has been keeping a low profile for the last weeks. She deleted all of her social media accounts and has stayed silent after photos of her husband kissing model and reality star Nicole Murphy surfaced online in July.

However, the 55-year-old stepped out on Tuesday for the premiere of OWN’s new series “David Makes Man,” where she has a recurring role as the estranged mom of one of the characters.

WEDDING RING OUT

Rochon looked stunning, wearing a black blazer and matching pants with flower embroidery on the sleeves and bottoms. She added a lace top with a plunging neckline, red heels, matching handbag and gold necklace and earrings.

However, Rochon’s accessory that stood out the most was her diamond wedding ring, which she proudly flaunted with a smile on her face. And that’s not all.

According to reports, as she was posing on the red carpet, someone from the crowd asked her how she was doing, to which she reportedly replied, “happily married.”

Lela and director Antoine Fuqua have been married for two decades and share two kids, daughter Asia, and son Brando.

CHEATING SCANDAL

However, their relationship faced a setback two weeks ago, when Fuqua was caught kissing Nicole Murphy at least twice by their hotel pool in Ischia, Italy. They were in town to attend the Ischia Global Festival, where Fuqua received the Director of the year award

Murphy, who was once married to comedian Eddie Murphy, first tried to pass the kiss as a “friendly greeting” between two family friends, telling LoveBScott.com: “I ran into him in Italy and we exchanged a friendly hello, and that was it.”

But one day later, Murphy changed her tune in a statement released to TMZ in which she apologized for kissing a married man.

NICOLE’S APOLOGY

"Without going into the entire situation, I want to apologize to my family, and to Lela and the Fuqua family for what transpired,” she said. And continued:

“It was not my intention to be in this situation. I do not condone women kissing or interacting in any way inappropriately with a married man. I too was once married, and I would never intentionally undermine another woman, despite what has been written."

Nicole allegedly thought that Fuqua’s marriage to Rochon was over, and that’s why she engaged in the passionate kiss with him. However, it is not clear why she thought he was divorced and why he didn’t clarify his relationship status.

Neither Fuqua nor Rochon have addressed the situation, but judging by Lela’s attitude at the red carpet, her wedding ring is a clear statement as to where she stands with Fuqua after the scandal.
