Ciara and Russell Wilson are expanding their family’s business and have joined the Seattle Sounders FC ownership group alongside ten more families with direct ties to the city. Rapper Macklemore and his wife Tricia Davis are also in the new group.

The Seattle Seahawks quarterback and the “Level Up” singer proudly announced the news on social media on Tuesday, sharing pics and video that shows them and their kids, Sienna Princess, and Future Jr, donning the green jersey of the club and even playing some soccer on the field.

“A Day I’ll Always Cherish! @DangeRussWilson and I are fired up to announce we are Team Owners of the Seattle @SoundersFC one of the best soccer franchises in the world!” Ciara wrote on an Instagram post. “We can’t wait for our kids to grow up loving Soccer! Family is everything! Football and Futbol is Family! #SoundersIsFamily.”

The power couple is one of the 11 local families to join the ownership group alongside rapper Macklemore and his wife, and a wide array of former executives from Microsoft and other technology, finance, and broadcast companies.

“Sounders FC was born right here in Seattle, and for more than 40 years, the club has forged a meaningful legacy that is deep and far-reaching,” said Sounders FC Majority Owner Adrian Hanauer. “Today’s news is a testament to what our community has accomplished, as 11 new families have joined with the broader Sounders family as fans and invested stewards of our club.”

This is not Wilson’s first venture into the business side of the sports industry. Five years ago, he joined an investment group working to bring NBA back to Seattle. And last year, he and Ciara invested in a group working to bring Major League Baseball to Portland.

“This city is a special place,” Wilson said in a statement released by the Sounders. “The Pacific Northwest is a place we love, and we get to raise our kids here and have a lot of fun while doing it. We want to bring the best soccer players in the world right here to Seattle.”

Ciara, on the other hand, said that the moment was exciting not only for her and Russell but also for their kids, whom she hopes can learn to love the sport and hopefully continue the business in the future.

“It’s an honor to join the Sounders team and have the unique opportunity to represent female ownership within major league sports,” said the Grammy Award-nominated artist.

“The team has already done some amazing things, but I believe the best is ahead, and we’re excited to be part of that.”

Congratulations Russell and Ciara on their new joint investment adventure!
