Prince Harry, Meghan Markle and baby Archie touched down in Nice in a private jet. They reportedly stayed in the home of Elton John who recently defended them from “malicious” accusations.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were photographed by paparazzi descending from a private jet in an airport in Nice. It was the second leg of their family vacation which began in Ibiza a few days earlier.

Wearing a white hat, Meghan carried little Archie in her arms while Harry, donning a green cap, disembarked by himself.

THE CONTROVERSY OVER THEIR JET-SETTING TRIP

Harry and Meghan’s vacation has been causing quite a stir due to their jet-setting journey that has environmentalists accusing them of hypocrisy. In eight days, the couple and their son flew on a jet three times traveling to Ibiza and back to the UK and then to the South of France.

Many are questioning the sincerity of their efforts to promote the preservation of the environment when they’ve managed to accumulate an estimate of seven tons of carbon footprint throughout the course of their eight-day trip, according to Daily Mail.

“Prince Harry’s Mother, Diana Princess Of Wales was one of my dearest friends. I feel a profound sense of obligation to protect Harry and his family from the unnecessary press intrusion that contributed to Diana’s untimely death.”

ELTON JOHN'S RESPONSE TO THE BACKLASH

While the couple has remained mum about the issue, singer Elton John, who hosted them in his home in Nice came to their defense and called the accusations “distorted and malicious.”

“I am deeply distressed by today’s distorted and malicious account in the press surrounding the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s private stay at my home in Nice last week,” John tweeted on August 19, the first in a series of tweets to defend the family of his good friend, Princess Diana. He continued,

“Prince Harry’s Mother, Diana Princess Of Wales was one of my dearest friends. I feel a profound sense of obligation to protect Harry and his family from the unnecessary press intrusion that contributed to Diana’s untimely death.”

Harry and Meghan can’t seem to catch a break, even during their summer break. They’ve been the object of scrutiny since the beginning of their relationship, a sad fact that Ellen DeGeneres recently pointed out.

In his third tweet, John explained why Harry and Meghan took a private jet and why it shouldn’t be an issue.

“David [his partner] and I wanted the young family to have a private holiday inside the safety and tranquility of our home,” he wrote.

“To maintain a high level of much-needed protection, we provided them with a private jet flight.”

John further clarified, “To support Prince Harry’s commitment to the environment, we ensured their flight was carbon neutral, by making the appropriate contribution to Carbon Footprint™.”

In his final tweet, he requested that the press “cease these relentless and untrue assassinations on their character that are spuriously crafted on an almost daily basis.”

ELLEN DEGENERES' SUPPORTIVE MESSAGE

Harry and Meghan can’t seem to catch a break, even during their summer break. They’ve been the object of scrutiny since the beginning of their relationship, a sad fact that Ellen DeGeneres recently pointed out.

In her own expression of support for the couple, Ellen praised them for their compassion and expressed her sadness over the frequent backlash they’ve been receiving.

“Imagine being attacked for everything you do, when all you’re trying to do is make the world better,” part of her message read.

It's a good thing the duke and duchess have friends who see past the negative publicity and value them for their efforts.

The public may be harsh to them as indicated by the poll conducted by YouGov, but what matters is they continue to prosper in their efforts to save the planet.
