Miley Cyrus' Ex Liam Hemsworth Returns to Social Media for First Time since Filing for Divorce
On Wednesday, Australian actor Liam Hemsworth returned to Instagram after a short hiatus. This was the first time the star has posted since the announcement of his separation from his wife.
Liam Hemsworth, 29, returned to social media this week to promote a film that he was starring in. His last post on Instagram was his confirmation that he and his wife had separated.
In his latest post, the Australian actor promoted the new movie “Killerman.” He mentioned nothing about his divorce from Miley Cyrus, 26.

Hemsworth’s post featured a still from the film where he stood leaning against a car with blood dripping down his face. He revealed that the movie would “be released in the USA on August 30th.”
In the thriller, the actor stars as Moe Diamond, a New York City money launderer. Diamond wakes up from a car crash with no memory and discovers that he has millions in stolen cash and drugs.
Hemsworth’s character also finds out that he’s on the run from dirty police officers who are violently hunting him down. In the caption of his post, the star thanked Emory Cohen, Malik Bader, and Ken Seng for their work on the movie.
His previous post on Instagram confirmed on August 13 that he and Cyrus had separated saying:
“Just a quick note to say that Miley and I have recently separated and I wish her nothing but health and happiness going forward.”
In a statement on August 10, Cyrus’ representative announced the same news. The statement read: “Liam and Miley have agreed to separate at this time.”
It continued:
“Ever-evolving, changing as partners and individuals, they have decided this is what’s best while they both focus on themselves and careers. They still remain dedicated parents to all of their animals they share while lovingly taking this time apart. Please respect their process and privacy.”
Court documents revealed that Hemsworth made a divorce filing in Los Angeles Superior Court. He cited “Irreconcilable differences” as the reason for their separation.
The former couple met in 2009 when they were teenagers on the set of “The Last Song.” They dated on-and-off for nearly 10 years before they married on December 23, 2018, at her family’s home in Franklin, Tennessee.
Reports stated that Hemsworth filed for divorce his wife because of her highly publicized relationship with Kaitlynn Carter. A source alleged that the actor filed because Cyrus was "being so open about her relationship with Kaitlynn."
The insider added: “He thought they could work it out, but all those pictures of her and Kaitlynn ended that.” Hemsworth was reportedly from a conservative family and couldn’t cope with the alleged betrayal.
Trying to fend off rumors that she had cheated during her marriage, Cyrus took to social media in a lengthy post to deny the cheating scandals.
