Beyoncé Shows How 'The Lion King: The Gift' Album Was Made in ABC Special 'Making the Gift'

Beyoncé and "The Lion King" fans are in for a special treat as ABC airs TV special.

ABC will be bringing fans a special titled "Beyoncé Presents: Making The Gift," giving fans a look behind the scenes of Beyoncé's recording of the original new songs inspired by the Disney movie.

Beyoncé released her album "The Gift" in conjunction with the premiere of the Disney remake of its iconic 1994 hit, "The Lion King."

“Viewers will be taken through the creative process as Beyoncé carefully curates the album, creating new music and collaborating with exceptionally talented artists and producers, while seeking inspiration from deeply rooted African influences” ABC press release

BEYONCÉ PLAYED NALA IN "THE LION KING"

Disney invited Beyoncé to give voice - and song - to Nala, and the album developed naturally from her work with "The Lion King" soundtrack and cast.

"Beyoncé Presents: Making The Gift" gives fans a rare glimpse behind the scenes of the work involved in creating and recording each track.

BEYONCÉ'S "LOVE LETTER TO AFRICA"

"The Gift" is an album which is separate from the film's soundtrack, but drinks deep from the same inspiration: a deep love for the African continent. Beyoncé calls it her love letter to Africa.

“I wanted to make sure we found the best talent from Africa, and not just use some of the sounds and did my interpretation of it. I wanted it to be authentic to what is beautiful about the music in Africa,” Beyoncé said..

A DAZZLING ARRAY OF TALENT

The special reveals how Beyoncé combined a dazzling array of musical talent to produce and record the album, with guest performers Kendrick Lamar, Pharrell Williams, Wiz Kid, her husband Jay-Z, and Donald Glover, who plays Simba in the film and performed under the pseudonym, Childish Gambino.

Beyoncé was proud to work with her daughter Blue Ivy who got her very first writing credit at the age of 7 on the song “Brown Skin Girl.”

The release of "Beyoncé Presents: Making The Gift" follows on the heels of her Netflix concert film, "Homecoming", which was nominated for six Creative Arts Emmys.

For those eager to see Queen Bey's masterpiece, "Making The Gift" premieres on September 16, 2019, on ABC following the premiere of "Dancing with the Stars".

The "Lion King" is on its way to becoming the biggest earner yet, with a total of $1.617 billion in global box office earnings.

In America, it has surpassed the earnings of "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" and is close on the heels "The Dark Knight," the two previous historical top earners.
