BEYONCÉ'S "LOVE LETTER TO AFRICA"

"The Gift" is an album which is separate from the film's soundtrack, but drinks deep from the same inspiration: a deep love for the African continent. Beyoncé calls it her love letter to Africa.

“I wanted to make sure we found the best talent from Africa, and not just use some of the sounds and did my interpretation of it. I wanted it to be authentic to what is beautiful about the music in Africa,” Beyoncé said..

A DAZZLING ARRAY OF TALENT

The special reveals how Beyoncé combined a dazzling array of musical talent to produce and record the album, with guest performers Kendrick Lamar, Pharrell Williams, Wiz Kid, her husband Jay-Z, and Donald Glover, who plays Simba in the film and performed under the pseudonym, Childish Gambino.

Beyoncé was proud to work with her daughter Blue Ivy who got her very first writing credit at the age of 7 on the song “Brown Skin Girl.”
