“RIP uncle Rudy!” was the short message she wrote to accompany a photo of her late relative beside his brother, Ronald Fenty who’s also Rihanna’s father. She did not reveal the reason for her uncle’s death though we were more curious over the fact that she shared a photo with her estranged father in it.

“I'm never going to date somebody like my dad, never,” she told Diane Sawyer in 2009.

HER COMPLICATED RELATIONSHIP WITH HER FATHER

It’s no secret that the A-list star has a complicated relationship with her dad after he falsely represented her in shady deals.

Early this year, Rihanna filed a lawsuit against Ronald for pretending to be her agent in acquiring bookings for her under her company, Fenty Entertainment. Rihanna clarified that her father had no authority to make business negotiations in her behalf.

According to court documents obtained by The Blast, he would book shows for her without her knowledge including a $15 million Latin America tour and shows in Las Vegas and Los Angeles amounting to $400,000.

THE SCARS OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE

Rihanna’s relationship with her father began to sour early on in her life when she witnessed his abuse of her mother, Monica Braithwaite to the extent that he broke her nose.

Rihanna swore she would not take the path her mother took. Monica chose to hide the incident instead of reporting her father or seeking medical attention. “I'm never going to date somebody like my dad, never,” she told Diane Sawyer in 2009.

Last year, Rihanna took offense when Snapchat approved an ad which mocked domestic violence using her example.

But that didn’t turn out to be the case. While dating Chris Brown, the then 20-year-old took a punch in the face after a lover’s altercation. They reunited twice after the incident but in March 2009, Chris was finally charged with felony assault after pleading guilty.

A CHAMPION FOR OTHER WOMEN LIKE HER

Last year, Rihanna took offense when Snapchat approved an ad which mocked domestic violence using her example. The ad by the app, “Would You Rather” slipped the choice, “Slap Rihanna or Punch Chris Brown” into its mix.

The singer slammed Snapchat and rejected the company’s apology that came after. “Shame on you. Throw the whole app-oligy away,” she wrote on her Instagram story.
