Hoda Kotb Talks Wedding Plans after Longtime Boyfriend Joel Schiffman Surprised Her with a Beach Proposal

After Joel Schiffman and Hoda Kotb got engaged over the weekend, they already began preparations for the wedding, with Hoda Kotb revealing that she and Joel want to get it done as soon as possible.

The "Today" show co-host, Hoda Kotb is already planning her wedding after her engagement to the love of her life, Joel Schiffman. In an interview with PEOPLE, the 55-year-old revealed her plans.

Joel Schiffman had asked Hoda Kotb to be his wife as the two enjoyed a romantic dinner by the beach. Hoda shared a photo of them on her Instagram story, which showed her smiling as she flashed her engagement ring, with Joel also smiling happily beside her.

With the engagement now sealed, the wedding comes next, and Hoda is already looking forward to it. She said:

"I sort of think we probably want to do it sooner than later, because what are we waiting for? And I kind of think we might do a destination wedding. We may go back to the place we were engaged. We haven't thought about it too much, but we might do something like that. The place is special to us."

The television personality added that the couple is not the bells and whistles type and that all she wanted was to be happy and for everybody to feel breezy and comfortable.

Recalling Joel's proposal, Hoda said that he told her to be his wife, and also added some beautiful things. She told her co-hosts on the "Today" Show:

"My heart has really been pounding. I was totally shocked. He had a good poker face."

Hoda Kotb also revealed that she hasn't told her daughters, Haley joy, 2, and Hope Catherine, the news of her engagement, saying she and Joel were still trying to figure it out.

Hoda Kotb and Joel Schiffman have been dating for six years and revealed in an interview with "Page Six" that the beginning of their relationship when she was 49, was when she found true happiness.

She also advised people not to give up on finding their happiness, no matter their age, adding that "it is fun at the end."
