Kelly Ripa Takes on Shakira's Champeta Dance Challenge with Two Mom Friends

At the recent Pepsi Super Bowl LIV Halftime show, singer Shakira performed the Colombian dance called the Champeta before sending out a challenge for others to do it. One celebrity who took up the challenge was television personality, Kelly Ripa.

Ripa, 49, recently showed off some fierce dance moves by taking on Shakira’s Champeta challenge. On Wednesday, the “Live With Kelly and Ryan” co-host took to Instagram to share a video of herself and two of her friends performing a routine for the Colombian dance.

The song that played in the background was "The Water Dance" by Chris Porter featuring Pitbull. Ripa captioned the post writing: “#wcw with my sisters in the @shakira Champeta challenge. 3 mothers. 7 children. 36 pack…”

Ripa auditioned for Shakira

This wasn’t the first time that the television host has shown love to Shakira. Before the Super Bowl, Ripa took to Instagram to share a video of herself jokingly auditioning to be featured in the singer’s halftime set.

In the clip, the star performed a choreographed set with her trainer Anna Kaiser who was also featured in the Champeta challenge video. Kaiser also happens to be Shakira’s trainer too.

Shakira posts workout clip

Ripa usually dances mainly to stay in shape. The "Whenever, Wherever" artist has also posted her own workouts with Kaiser on social media.

Singer jokes about workout routine

Taking to Instagram, the musician shared a clip that showed her exercising in preparation for the Super Bowl Halftime show. In a word bubble over one of the workouts, Shakira joked that the trainer was making her clean the floors.

On February 2, 2020, besides it being the day of the Super Bowl, it also happened to be Shakira’s 43rd birthday! After she was done with her performance, the singer took to Twitter and revealed that the day had been “The best birthday gift…”

Singer performed with Jennifer Lopez

She also shared a photo of herself mid-performance at the event. Shakira took to the stage to thrill the audience and viewers alongside Jennifer Lopez.

The football game was held at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida.
