"My grandmother nicknamed me, Papoose at birth. Because she felt I resembled a Indian baby."
According to The Famous People, the rapper was born on December 31, 1978, in Bedford-Stuyvesant, New York City.
Since severing ties with Jive Records in 2007, Papoose released a number of free mixtapes that garnered considerable interest before eventually releasing his debut album, "The Nacirema Dream."
Papoose expressed his interest in music at a very tender age of 11 when he wrote his first rap. Gradually, the name Papoose became more than just a nickname as the artist ascended in his music career.
As reported by The Famous People, Papoose had his big break in 1998 after meeting Nathaniel Thomas Wilson, popularly known as Kool G Rap. He went on to release his debut single titled, "Alphabetical Slaughter," which opened the doors to a record deal with Jive Records in 2000.
The rapper eventually cut ties with Jive Records after his debut album was repeatedly postponed and eventually shelved.
Since severing ties with Jive Records in 2007, Papoose released a number of free mixtapes that garnered considerable interest before eventually releasing his debut album, "The Nacirema Dream," on March 26, 2013.
Not long after he parted ways with Jive, the thriving rapper, married Reminisce Mackie, better known as Remy Ma, on May 12, 2008.
The duo was scheduled to be married on April 27, 2008, but that was before Remy Ma was sentenced to eight years in prison for shooting a former friend over a monetary dispute.
The mother-of-two was later released in August 2014, after which the couple had a ceremonial wedding in March 2016.
Hot New Hip-Hop shares that Remy Ma and Papoose welcomed their baby girl, Reminisce, into their family on December 14, 2018.
According to HNHH, Papoose shared a post on his Instagram on the day their daughter was born, thanking his wife for her resilience through some traumatic complications that occurred during the delivery.
In September 2019, the doting mom took to her Instagram page to share a video of her nine-month-old already cruising around in her walker.
On the other hand, the American rapper dad can't seem to get his baby girl to stop calling him 'babe,' as seen in yet another Instagram update of Reminisce's adorable moments.
Papoose posted a note to his Instagram page with the caption, "It’s Daddy, not babe! ? Can’t get her to stop!"
Better days ahead for the beautiful family as a recent post by Papoose on his Instagram page shows the trio celebrating the end of Remy's five-year probation and looking forward to their happily ever after.
The future is surely bright for Papoose and his family!
