Although Brolin deleted the photo from his social media, he responded to the criticism in another Instagram post. He shared a "serious" video clip on Instagram, where he apologized to his "fellow man" for the visit.

In the Instagram video, Brolin explained that his father James, and Barba Streisand live in very close proximity to their home. Nonetheless, he dubbed the visit an "irresponsible" one on his part.

Josh added that he was "humbled" by the responses concerning his visit to his father's home, but he made it clear that he was not making the video to appease his followers.

The 52-year-old actor made reference to some people who are not taking safety measures to protect themselves from contracting COVID-19 and explained that his family has not been behaving that way. He said in the clip,

"I'm not an advocate for doing any other thing outside of taking care of each other and making sure that we get through this."

Brolin also spoke of the instance of people going overboard with their care for loved ones and assured the public that this is a short-term struggle, which is only a premise to a long-term resolution.

Josh Brolin married entrepreneur Kathryn Boyd in 2016, and they share a child, Westlyn, who was born in 2018. The actor was formerly married to Diane Lane for nine years but the two didn't have any child together, and they split in 2013.

Brolin and his ex-wife Alice Adair share two children, Eden, 24, and Trevor, 30.
