Story of the Day: Dad Gets a Lesson from Little Son on What It Really Means to Be Rich

A wealthy father took his son to a poor farm in the country to teach him to admire their assets. To his surprise, however, his child's enlightening reaction to this activity reverses the situation totally.

One day a very rich dad took his son out traveling to the country. His only purpose was to show the boy how it was to be poor.

The pair spent a couple of days and nights on the farm of what might be viewed as a poverty-stricken family.

The dad asked his child how he enjoyed the outing after their arrival from the trip. The boy answered that it was incredible.

The dad then inquired as to whether he comprehends how poor individuals can be. To which the son replied, "Oh yeah." The child at that point told his dad he saw that the poor people have one dog, and they have four.

"We have a pool that ends to the middle of our garden, and they have a river that has no end," the boy added. "We have imported lights in our garden, and they have the stars around evening time."

"Our porch ranges to the front yard, and they have the entire skyline," he continued. "We have a little piece of land to live on, and they have fields that go past our sight."

The kid's observation was not yet over. He told his dad that they have servants, but that poor people were serving others.

He also said that they purchase their food, but the poor people grow theirs. The child additionally noticed that they have walls around their property to secure them, yet the poor people have companions to ensure them.

The father was speechless. Then his son proceeded, "It showed me exactly how poor we truly are."

Too often, we overlook what we have and focus on what we don't have. In some cases, it takes the outlook of a kid to remind us what's valuable. The child showed this wealthy father a significant lesson of pure happiness.
