On Wednesday, Duchess Meghan celebrated her son’s first birthday by sharing a video of him. Most people thought the clip was quite cute except one particular author.

On May 6, 2020, Duchess Meghan, 38, took part in a story-reading exercise with the Save With Stories organization. She held little Archie, who was celebrating his first birthday, in her lap as they read the “Duck! Rabbit!” story together.

Author Emily Giffin, 48, has since come out to criticize the duchess for how she handled the reading. Prince Harry played the videographer and could be heard commenting in the background.

MEGHAN IS “SUCH A PHONY”

The “Something Borrowed” writer took to her Instagram Stories and slammed Meghan. Giffin started off by posting screenshots of Kensington Palace’s tribute to the little toddler on her now-private account.

Go away Meghan

She speculated how the Royal Family had a “pointed photo choice” to use a portrait featuring several members instead of one with just the Sussexes. In a text exchange with someone else, Giffin went as far as referring to Meghan as “unmaternal” and “such a phony” for her recording.

CALLING MEGHAN AN ATTENTION SEEKER

She also noted in the text: "Archie is adorable but that video screamed look at me! Look at me!" The Maryland-born author shared the exchange on her Instagram account too.

She also uploaded a snapshot of the birthday video and wrote: “Happy Birthday, Archie,” adding “Go away, Megan [sic].” Her attack on the duchess continued with her commenting on an Instagram clip of Meghan’s video posted by the “What Meghan Wants” account.

THE MEGHAN SHOW

The “All We Ever Wanted” writer commented: “Adorable child and book. But… Holy ‘me first.’ This is the Megan [sic] show.” Giffin questioned why Harry hadn’t read the book instead or why she hadn’t acknowledged him in the clip.

The writer judged the duchess for wanting privacy for Archie but posting a video of him “wearing no pants?! Ooookay.” Giffin’s dislike of Meghan has been an ongoing issue.

GIFFIN’S DISLIKE OF THE DUCHESS

On the day the duchess welcomed Archie, the “Baby Proof” author posted a photo of the Queen and wrote: “The only reason the world cares about Meghan Markle’s pregnancy is because of this woman.” However, the writer hasn’t always disliked Meghan.

EMILY BEFORE HER HATE FOR MEGHAN

Two months before Archie’s birth, she told “The Columbus Dispatch” that the Sussexes were the “future.” She commended the couple at the time stating:

“They’ll be in the history books. Hundreds of years from now, Harry and Meghan will be a footnote.”

LIKING THE ROYAL FAMILY

In July 2018, Giffin showed an interest in writing a novel based on the British royals. She confessed at the time: “Did you know that I like the royals? Did you know that?”

STEPPING DOWN AS ROYALS

On January 8, 2020, Harry and Meghan revealed that they would be stepping down as senior royals. Piers Morgan was one of the people who reacted critically to the decision.
