Jenna Bush Hager Cries as She Reveals Late Grandfather George HW Bush's Life Advice

Jenna Bush Hager gets emotional as she recalls her late grandfather George H.W. Bush's life advice that he gave to her.

One way of honoring the memories of our loved ones who have passed away is by taking to heart the life lessons and advice they bestowed on us.

This exactly was what Jenna Bush Hager did on Thursday's session of "TODAY with Hoda and Jenna," when she recalled the best advice her late grandfather gave her.

Last year, [Jenna Bush Hager] took to her Instagram to celebrate his first death anniversary with a throwback photo of him hugging her and her sister.

Speaking about her late grandad, George H.W. Bush, during the segment that featured poet Cleo Wade, Jenna said that he passed on to her a set of life rules by which he lived. Speaking to her co-host, she said:

"Well, first of all, he had this little list of rules that he lived by, and they're all really good ones, like, 'Don't talk all the time..."

Other lessons on the list include giving others credit, helping people, remaining humble, being hopeful, and listening to people among many. However, among the long list of rules, there was one that Jenna admitted she kept close to heart.

She recounted a night the whole family was hanging out in Maine and having a conversation when her grandad, who was having speech issues, told her, "don't forget to enjoy the game." Explaining how that single advice touched her heart, Jenna said as she broke down in tears:

"And it broke my heart into a thousand pieces because what he meant is life is meant to be enjoyed, celebrate it."

Oprah Magazine recalls that this isn't the first time the show host has talked about the great advice she has received from her family members.

Back in February, the 38-year-old recalled a piece of life-changing advice her dad, former president George W. Bush gave her during her cousin's wedding.

She recounted that he explained to her that alcohol "got in the way of the things that mattered most," as he advised her to be wary of drinking. Since George H.W Bush's death in 2018, Jenna has never failed to honor his memory the best way.

Today reports that last year, she took to her Instagram to celebrate his first death anniversary with a throwback photo of him hugging her and her sister.

At the time of his demise, PopSugar recalls that she was heartbroken as she described him as the center of their family.
