Anderson Cooper welcomed his newborn son, Wyatt Morgan, nearly a year after his mother, Gloria Vanderbilt, passed away.

Although Wyatt won’t be able to grow up with his grandmother, the infant will be reminded by her in several ways, including through her art.

BABY WYATT’S NURSERY ROOM

Cooper gave a preview of his son’s nursery room in a four-minute video clip, which was calming yet artistic for his little bundle of joy.

Although the space was “pretty small,” the proud father utilized every corner and had the essential things installed.

Cooper decided to co-parent his son with his former partner, Benjamin Maisani.

Made fit for a child, Wyatt’s nursery had wooden animals, stuffed toys, and blocks, which were pre-owned by Cooper in his early years.

“This is my Snoopy, and I loved him so much,” he said, holding one of his most-loved toys. “He’s actually wearing a t-shirt that belonged to my brother.”

Cooper’s brother, Carter, passed away in 1998 at the age of 23. He recalled having asked Carter to give his shirt to Snoopy, fearing the stuffed animal would be cold.

PAYING TRIBUTE TO GLORIA VANDERBILT

The room boasted of blue, cream, and gold colors, with a painting by and of the late Vanderbilt and the anchor’s late father, Wyatt Emory Cooper.

“We were kind of rushed to try to get everything together,” the CNN reporter said. “This is a painting my mom did of my mom and my dad, and I thought it would be nice to have here -- them watching over Wyatt.”

Pieces of Vanderbilt filled the room, including a hanging Cupid figure that the fashion designer had in her home.

Another painting the style icon drew before she passed away was displayed in the nursery. The art featured “a man on a boat with a flower in his hand, heading toward a woman who’s waiting for him.”

A BLESSING AMID A PANDEMIC

The 52-year-old anchor welcomed his son via surrogate on April 27, as the coronavirus pandemic was on the rise. Anderson said:

“Even when there are sadness and suffering, there is joy and beauty, and I think it’s important to recognize both.”
