Vanessa Williams Shows off Her Dad in Rare Throwback Photos Proving Their Likeness
Vanessa Williams recently honored her dad for Father's Day on Instagram, with two posts that captured his fatherhood.
Several children took to Instagram to honor their dad on Father's Day over the weekend, including Vanessa Williams.
HONORING HER FATHER
The singer shared two photos of her dad, Milton, whom she got her musical talents from. One post featured a black and white throwback photo of the father-daughter-duo, dating back to 1968.
The second photo showed Milton reading a book to Williams' daughter, Melanie. "My dad doing his favorite thing… reading bedtime stories." she wrote alongside the picture. "Always in our hearts Papa."
Milton and his wife, Helen, were both music teachers at Millwood's public school system, exposing their two children, Williams and her brother Chris, to music at a young age.
The "Ugly Betty" star showed her gratitude on the caption of her post and thanked her fans for the "endless support" given to her.
Thanks to her parents' influence, the "Save the Best for Last" artist was able to hone her talents for singing and playing the violin, piano, and French horn.
LOOKING UP TO HER PARENTS
Williams, who won Miss America in her younger years, looked up to her parents' marriage and set it as the standard for what she wanted.

Although Milton and Helen tied the knot in 1960, they adapted a modern approach to their union. Helen was an independent woman who Milton respected and became her own person without needing validation.
Unfortunately, the multi-talented entertainer didn't have the same ideal relationship as her parents. Williams was married three times and divorced twice.

By the time she was on her third husband, the singer already knew much about love and marriage. "Before you get married, be really clear about who it is you're marrying," she advised.
TURNING 57
Williams recently celebrated her 57th birthday by sharing a morning selfie, showcasing her bare-faced beauty.
The "Ugly Betty" star showed her gratitude on the caption of her post and thanked her fans for the "endless support" given to her.
Throughout her career, Williams has been nominated for a Grammy, Tony, and Emmy Award. She also starred in "Desperate Housewives" and "Ugly Betty."
