Last year, fans were psyched after Barrino released her seventh studio album. Although the music project signified her vast experience, it was a unique work for the songstress. The album titled "Sketch Book" was her first independent work.

Barrino once shared that Taylor suggested a prenup

In a chat with People, Barrino did not hold anything back as she expressed her joy in achieving what she always dreamed about. The "American Idol" winner stated that the album gave her access to more musical freedom. She told the publication

"...And now we're doing what it is we always really wanted to do."

Growing up was tumultuous for Barrino who had difficulties comprehending her studies while having reading issues. In her memoir, "Life is Not a Fairy Tale," the star singer mentioned that she was still battling reading problems years after her school days.

When she got to the ninth grade, she was sexually assaulted, but the aftermath was even more profound as she got threats from her offender's friends.

Later, her post-"American Idol" fame was riled with a cheating scandal. In 2010, Barrino attempted suicide and the incident became a turning point in her life.

These days, Barrino is living her best life and enjoying marital bliss with her spouse, Kendall Taylor. The duo got married in 2015, a few weeks after meeting.

Barrino once shared that Taylor suggested a prenup because he wanted to prove that he was not after material things.

Barrino credits Taylor, a businessman, for his impact in her life and how he helped her gain more confidence in herself.
