Sean Penn Reveals He Got Married to Leila George Amid the COVID-19 Pandemic –– Details of Their Private Wedding
During the latest episode of “Late Night with Seth Meyers,” Sean Penn surprisingly revealed that he’d gotten married for the third time! The marriage was not what you’d typically expect.
While being remotely interviewed by Seth Meyers, Penn confirmed that he’d gotten married again. He held his hand up to the camera to show off his wedding band on his left hand.
The actor confessed that he’d gotten married on July 30, 2020. The wedding was different in that they followed the safety guidelines put in place to try and curb the spread of the novel coronavirus disease.

PENN’S COVID-19 WEDDING
Penn, 59, called his private ceremony with Leila George a “COVID wedding” which was held at their home. The county commissioner officiated remotely via zoom.
The actor’s two children were present including his bride’s brother. Meyers noted how Penn’s wedding seemed stress-less because of the lack of guests and festivities.
BENEFITS OF THE VIRUS
The actor laughed and noted how there were “socially liberating factors under COVID.” Penn and George, 28, tied the knot after dating for four years.
From 1985 to 1989, the actor was married to the famous Madonna. Then he married Robin Wright from 1996 until 2010.
He and Wright are parents to a daughter Dylan, 29, and son Hopper, 26.

WHERE LEILA ACTED
The star’s new wife is also an actress too. In December 2018, George was seen in the sci-fi film “Mortal Engines,” which was produced by Peter Jackson.
She’s also starred on “The Kid.” The Vincent D’Onofrio-directed movie is the retelling of the Billy the Kid story.
SPOTTED AT A FUNCTION
D’Onofrio and Greta Scacchi are George’s parents. In March 2020, the couple was spotted together in a rare outing to a benefit for Australia wildfire relief efforts.
SUPPORTING GEORGE
The event was hosted by the Greater Los Angeles Zoo Association and held at the Los Angeles Zoo. Penn and George dressed casually for the outing and held hands on the red carpet.
SEEN AT A GALA
The pair usually stays under the radar when it comes to public appearances. In January 2020, they were seen together again at Penn’s 10th annual gala benefiting CORE.
The organization helps areas devastated by natural disasters.
